Prolonging Christmas, For Sunday Stills “Looking Through a Window”

This picture might be a bit hard to interpret. I am actually taking a photo from my desk, looking out to the lights strung from the Virginia Creeper hanging down from the roofline.  The room behind me is reflected in the glass.  I love this photo and love these lights Yolanda and Pasiano insisted on stringing up for me.  I like them so much that althought we’ve taken the tree and all the other decorations down, I can’t stand to take these down.

This guy was for real.  He wandered the beach with this squirrel couple on his head and shoulder. They later had a baby who traveled with them as well. Gotta run now but later I’ll try to find a photo of the entire happy family.

I like the middle seasons, the rising and falling.

that is where the excitement is.

Summer’s heat and brittle winter
are for avoidance and snuggling in,
protection from the extremes.

For me it is the in-between, when flowers bud
or leaves turn brilliant and fall to cushion the earth

Polishing the Cat

Please click on the photos to enlarge them. Also, note that I had nothing to do with these shenanigans. I knew neither cat nor girl. I was just the event photographer. I must say, though, that this is the most docile cat I’ve ever encountered. At the conclusion of the event, both manicurist and cat seemed to be content with the end results.

 

And, I can’t help it. I have to try sneaking this into Cee’s Coat of Many Colors prompt.

Also, her CBWC feet or paws prompt.  Not strictly black and white, Cee? You’ve got to admit that the kitty is black and white and the little girl has selected the contrasting color! How can that not count? (Born to rebel.)

Top Dog (For Sunday Stills)

After finding homes for five puppies found on the beach after the death of their mother, I found Frida trotting toward us on the busy highway. At first I thought she was a big rat. Cars were speeding by. Of course, she came home with me.
and very quickly grew into top dog,

For the fifteen or more years Frida lived with me, this is where she was most of the time, checking out the neighborhood and occasionally barking at someone who didn’t belong there.
First there was Frida, then Diego.
Frida was suspicious
Morrie looking up hopefully
Morrie in his younger days was my houses’s main pest. His consumption of three dog beds and a cat bed within a month’s period had something to do with it. When I got back from my writing retreat in December, Morrie had totally torn up Frida’s bed and left Diego’s untouched. Bad boy!!!
He said: Bow
Sadly, Frida left us, leaving Morrie and Frida to tussle it out over who was top dog.
And Frida’s ashes went into this effigy which we concreted in place on her favorite place on the dome, to watch for as long as I have any say in the matter.
I only hope she is watching and knows.
Well, I am, Mom.
Yoli thought Brian was top dog, from the first.
Diego has had a few embarrassing periods he thought unbecoming to a top dog.
where he found other dogs to feel superior to.
and surprise, surprise, Diego sorta missed her..
