Wild Oats
Pardon me if I refuse to honor your excuse
that your cold has made you into a recluse.
I won’t relieve your conscience for I know that it’s a lie.
I know because that day I just happened to come by.
I saw her car outside your door and saw her going in
with some kind of casserole and a fifth of gin.
So I know you missed my party because you had your own,
and by now your wild oats no doubt have been well sown.
So I’ll just say if there’s a chance you’d like to sow some more,
It’s best that you don’t lug your seed sack to my door!!!!!

If you don’t want me in a tizzy,
French fries? Crisp, please. Soda? Fizzy.
And though I like my ice cream soft,
when I’m holding it aloft,
if I’m not constantly on guard,
better that it’s frozen hard.
RDP’s three words today are: CRISP, SOFT, FIZZY

When your thinking is simplistic, it’s bound to be confusing.
And if you are not organized, the logic that you’re using
may lead you ’round in circles with the result that you’re not
successful in discovering the answers that you sought.
For the Three Things Challenge, the words are: SIMPLISTIC ORGANISED CONFUSING

When we choose to display ourselves
on runways, beaches, screens or shelves,
we should be careful that we don’t show
more than we want the world to know.
For Three Things Challenge the three words are: DISPLAY SHOW SHELVED

Wallflower
You think I cannot see you behind your curtain blind,
hiding in the shadows. You are the cautious kind.
You drape yourself in darkness, thinking I will not see,
but still the colors of your soul come shining out at me.
Step forward to the lightness. There is no danger here.
There is at least one person who bids you to come near.
Whether bad or good will come from joining life’s mad dance,
you will never know until you choose to take the chance.
The three words for the Three Things Challenge #444this week are: CURTAIN DRAPE BLIND

The farther up the mountain we went, the smaller the road became. I was on the outside and for most of the way the drop was severe–with no siderails or walls or shoulders. Vertigo? Yes.
The Zen of Fear
I don’t know what’s in front of me,
can’t recall what’s in the rear.
Don’t know if I should run full force
or if I should veer.
I guess I will just take what comes
and enjoy the ride.
Life is so much better spent
with fears all set aside.
The Pensivity Three Things Challenge prompt today is Front, Rear, Aside.
Postscript:
Forgottenman says I should include our Skype conversation that took place between my writing of this poem and its posting, so here goes:
Magic Circle
Ring around a Rosie
safe within a hoop.
Mommy drew a circle
around the chicken coop.
When the fox jumped over it,
the hens began to squawk,
voicing their alarm
in raucous chicken talk.
Mommy grabbed a broom
to drive the rascal out,
punctuating every swing
with an angry shout.
Now the fox is sulking,
hungry little pest
while each hen is settled
securely in her nest.
The ring around this Rosie,
our most prolific hen,
means that we’ll have scrambled eggs
more than now and then!!!

Delayed Warning
A bout of indigestion can make a guy a grouch
and leave him prone to lying grumbling on the couch
while his wife stands listening, chuckling in the hall,
remembering how she had warned him not to eat it all.
Yet he had ingested it, as usual, in a hurry
before she could warn him that he was eating curry!
For the Three Things Challenge the words are: CHUCKLE GROUCH INDIGESTION

No Stone Unturned
Turning over stones can be overly unpleasant
due to all the denizens likely to be present.
Yet I profess it’s cowardly to just let them lie,
I’m sure you’ll prove your manliness and flip them by and by!
For Pensitivity’s Three Things Challenge, the words are: STONE UNPLEASANT COWARDLY.
