Frannie Bombs the Flower Shoot

I was trying so hard to photograph this Wandering Jew flowering on the wall ledge between my front and back yard, but Frannie kept jumping up to interfere.  Four times, she jumped up on the ledge and stuck her face between me and the plants I was trying to photograph, even following me into the dread back yard, where she drew the unfriendly attention of Morrie and Diego.  The back yard is a cat-free area, or so it is decreed to be by the dogs, so when she followed me back and jumped down from the wall, I had to rescue her.  Still again, she strayed into their turf, this time remaining on the wall.  This is the story, in photos.  Please click on the first photo to see the whole slide series enlarged. Wandering Jew (Tradescantia Pallida) : Flower of the Day, May 7, 2018

This tiny flower is easy to overlook. Lacking my good camera since its demise, the focus isn’t quite so defined as I would wish. (Excuses, excuses.)

Purple Heart: Flower of the Day, Sep 1, 2017

This tradescantia vine, also known as Wandering Jew or Purple Heart, is one of my favorites. Regrettably,  I haven’t captured it too well, but I had to stop the car and take this shot from the window and an impatient driver was honking his horn behind me.  Even he has to suffer for art.  Like it or not.

This Wandering Jew blossom is actually tiny. Thanks, Canon, for allowing this close look.

Wandering Jew with Pineapple: Flower of the Day, April 6, 2016

I promised Calen Sariel that I would show more of the Wandering Jew plant when I showed a closeup of the bloom a few weeks ago, so here it is, Calen, along with my yearly pineapple that I await with great trepidation, lest some animal or visitor make off with it.  These are always the sweetest pineapples I’ve ever tasted, and Pasiano and Yolanda and I make a ceremony out of tasting it when the final sacrifice is made and we harvest it! (Yes, I realize a pineapple is a fruit, not a flower, but the Wandering Jew is and its inclusion in the posting makes this official!)

The common name for this purple-accented vining plant is “Wandering Jew” This particular variety has such beautiful little flowers that I had to present them.
