This little girl looks like she’s already had too much Halloween candy.

I know. For some reason the painted faces were very sinister that year. Probably because I think we had just run out of candy after distributing 600 bags of it. You see some of the kids have bags of potato chips which were all we had left. The X’s on their hands were because some kids would come back again and again so we started marking them to prevent this. One year we stamped their faces with fun stamps, but the boys would put on masks and come back–thus the hands this year.

That is a spectacle I have never seen. 6000 bags of sweets is beyond my comprehension. Only in the last few years has halloween been celebrated (I think the retail stores felt they were missing out on a lucrative form of revenue) and we had a handfull of kids ring the bell. Easy to cope with.

Nope…But must say, if we’d distributed 6,000 we probably still would have run out. They just kept coming and that’s close to the entire population of the town.
