Knit a little baby hat for his royal crown.
Put it on his tiny head and pull it firmly down.
He might as well get ready for the pressures of this hat
instead of one he might have worn except for the fact that
his great grandmother has to die or perhaps abdicate
and then his grandpa Charles would have to meet with the same fate.
And then his dad and brother would have to bite the dust
and so perhaps you’ll realize why I remain nonplussed
over today’s question. Why is it moot to me?

This is definitely my favorite response to the announcement of Royal Baby #2 (although the guy who tweeted that he was so excited because it meant another bank holiday for him was also pretty good). It always seems to me like the “spares,” especially in this day and age of low infant and child mortality and long lives (so low chance of being called upon), get to have way more fun than the “heirs” !
