Royal Poinciana Clusters: Flower of the Day, Apr 30, 2016

Yesterday I showed individual Royal Poinciana flowers.  Today I’m showing clusters and tomorrow I’ll show the entire tree.  Some say the African Tulip tree is the most beautiful flowering tree on earth, but I say the Royal Poinciana is.

I know. I just love them. Strange that in 15 years I have never clipped one off and brought it into the house. I don’t know how they’d do as cut flowers, but I think generally flowers on trees don’t do well in a vase. I may be incorrect, though.

The Royal Poinciana clusters are vibrant, demanding to be noticed. At first glance, I thought it may be in the poinsettia family. Red flowers are the closest symbolic likeness to the heart.

Childhood memories of a giant tree of Royal Poinciana, right in front of my home, fills up my heart with pure joy, as I travel back to those days when I was young.
That tree not only provided shade on sunny days but also so much to me. I miss that tree very much 😦
