Why We Grieve Today

This statement by John Pavlovitz is probably the most eloquent statement of how many of us are feeling on this day after the election.  http://johnpavlovitz.com/2016/11/09/heres-why-we-grieve-today/

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Sorry … I do not buy it. David Icke called it. A choice between a Catastrophe and a Disaster. That the disaster won. To say Ms. Clinton was the choice, of right from over wrong. Is an absolute fallacy. Her use of a private server and then lying about it. Clearly demonstrates her willingness to lie in public office. Her laughter about rape victim as she get the rapist, off. Decries the notion that she was for the many things nice. Not to mention the grey fuzzies around that Clinton Foundation and Bill Clinton Inc. Then the fact, that he was impeached. Now I don’t really care how much oral sex he got? But he lied to Congress about it. I would say that the election of Mr. Trump as POTUS. Is actually a voice from the wilderness. Saying “we’re fed up and won’t take it anymore”. Then that’s just my view. No biggie.

In my lifetime, I’ve yet to see any elected politician really make a difference and stand up for the people. They are constantly talking from both sides of the face. All those so-called “trade deals” have done little for the ordinary person, except for the CCC. cheap chinese crap. My own belief is that Ms. Clinton was prepared to cause a war between Russia and NATO. That perhaps, maybe? Mr. Trump can reverse the trend? Not really holding my breath on that.

The MSM [mainstream media] lies around Russia and Mr. Putin, are exaggerated. When politicians actually stand behind the people, instead of the Corporate Banking cartels. I might start believing? To this point. All I can really think is that a catastrophe was averted. Now let us see if he can “drain the swamp”? Personally, I doubt it. I’m expecting the disaster. Best to be prepared for the worse.
    Cheers Jamie

I can’t say whether his thinking is spot-on or quite rose-colored in favor of his candidate, but his post is definitely eloquent, well written and worth reading. Helps to clarify in my mind the “Vote for Clinton” point of view.

I happily voted for Hillary, who has spent her life in service to her country. I think few politicians could have stood up to the pillory that she’s been subjected to. The thing that bothers me most about Trump (in addition to his slash and burn business policies) is his relegating of women to a sexualized role. Other politicians have had the isolationist mentality and limited knowledge of world politics and diplomacy, but I don’t know of any who have been as crass and embarrassingly unsocially adept and egocentric as Mr. Trump. That said, I’m closing this blog to political comment for awhile, at least from my point of view. I won’t control what others choose to talk about, but I for one am exhausted with the vitriol and anger we have all surrounded ourselves with. Time to get on with the rest of our lives, however long they might be. I truly believe that Mr. Trump has it within his power to end life as we know it. I also sincerely hope I’m wrong.

Eloquent, yes. But pessimistic. I don’t think DT will get away with as much as he thinks he will. I also think that it overlooks the tragic rage and disaffection so many Americans obviously feel towards the establishment. You and I might think Trump only offers chaos, but I have to ask myself why so many people voted for him, and the only answer I can find is that to them, he offered hope. You’ll compromise a lot for hope if you have none.

Judy, looking at it from a long way off, but with eight very close blood relations who are US born and live in America, all I can say is that I am heartbroken at the outcome of the vote. Like you I supported Hilary in 2008 and have done ever since, but she has at least worked her butt off for her country. What I detest about DT is that he’s never done a day’s work in his life. What sort of qualification is that to be head of state of anywhere? I’m not a feminist just somebody who believes we’re are all equal and have the same human rights. DT seems to be an expert on human wrongs. But lets cheer up. It’s been the worst year of my life, Brexit kicking our European friends in the collective groin, a lot of very painfully limiting and tiring illness, including a terminal diagnosis in May that was accompanied with the unbelievably clarifying phrase ” Well I would not start buying any Christmas presents!” Still I have got my first great grandchildrens’ Christening to look forward to in a couple of weeks so maybe things are changing. My cancer is no worse yet so that terminal pessimist was way off target. What I’d really like is to visit you in Mexico and build a wall between us and HIM! but I don’t think I’m quite up to that. Thake care and let’s have a happy Christmas. Oh, and I will sends pics from Italy if I can. xx Anton

So so sorry to hear that news, Anton. I thought all was well with the cancer. Damn. You are most welcome to visit without having to build a wall! You’ll have to prove the drs. liars and make it through until April, though as I have a big construction project and then will be gone for 3 months. Bad timing. I don’t look forward to not seeing your face in that little circle in my comments column or on your blog, so I demand you prove the drs. wrong. xo
