Cat Nap

I chanced upon this scene when I came back to the guest room, where I am sleeping tonight hoping it will be less asthma-provoking than my room has been lately. It looked so cozy, I hated to disturb it. I have another confession to make. I bought this cat made of papier mache newsprint in PV. It was made by an artist who would not reduce the pretty pricey price because he was selling them in galleries so couldn’t undercut them. I actually bought it for my friend but when I saw it in my new guest room I decided to keep it. I felt guilty about this while she was here. I had installed it cozily on the bed in the room where she slept. Imagine my delight when I pointed it out after a few days, surprised she hadn’t mentioned it, and she made a rather disparaging comment about it. Relief! I was thinking if she was crazy about it I’d have to give it up to her. She is a cat lady, I should add, of the first order. So, I sent her back to her real cats and she let me keep my hypoallergenic cat. I’m sleeping with it tonight.

Cat dander was my worst allergen when I had allergy tests years ago. Glad this baby will not be causing you a problem with your asthma. Sleep well tonight.

I know I’m allergic to both cats and dogs–main reason they all stay outside. I could always tell when Frida was sleeping in my room, even though she was supposed to sleep down the hall!

Judy, thanks for taking the time to look. I put it on vacation to return on Wednesday, January 4 with a new look. I look forward to your reading your contributions in 2017.

Lol, I love when things work out that way! It’s a lovely catless cat of a cat, and a lovely room!

I used my new vacuum cleaner today and I swear pulled out more than a pound of old dog hair and dust. And we don’t even let the dogs IN our bedroom, much less the bed. The hair just floats in on the breeze. We have an adjustable bed so we can raise it. It helps with the breathing since both of us have asthma, me somewhat worse, but we both have it. Medicare doesn’t pay for asthmas maintenance meds anymore. It’s almost $500 for a single month’s medication now. No way can we afford it for one of us, much less two, so it’s inhalers and a good vacuum cleaner … and two mostly non-shedding pooches.
My back and hips do not like the raised bed, but my lungs do. Less pain or keep breathing? I generally go with breathing. Keep breathing, my friend. Keep breathing.

I did okay today.. drove to town for several appointments, went to a NY party and danced and took 240 photos. Just a couple of mild coughing episodes but no further problems. I have a possible solution for you.. Remind me tomorrow. xo J Happy NY
