Quartet
They flicker like tiny sparks,
these rapid kittens
intense in attention,
movements reflecting
every neighboring small movement.
Suspicious of brief distractions.
Violent, then soft like the feather
they’ve destroyed,
drifting to the window frame above,
forgotten by its intense stalkers
of a second before.
I think you’ve inherited 4 little kittens! Will you ever be able to give them up?

No. Must admit it. No. Wish you could see them in their antics. I try to get photos, but they are always a blur. Should do more videos but no room on my computer to store them. I’ll be sorry later.

Oh my, you live with sprites! That first picture with all the orange and intensity is marvelous! Your words catch the movement and fickleness of kittens.

In that photo, Ollie is pulling on my camera strap as I snap the photo..That’s what is in his mouth! I was writing a poem in my head this morning as I lay in bed and they were scampering all over and around me, biting fingers, licking elbows, claw-combing my hair, fighting with their reflections in my eyeglasses. It was a panic. Wish I could remember the poem. It was a plea, if I’m ever seemingly in a coma, to bring kittens in to play on my bed every day. Just in case.

HA! They are indeed muses and muse-thieves all in one. Keep the joy coming.

Well-put, Jilly. You are right on both counts.

Cute kittens and well-observed verse. Those last two lines say it all beautifully.
Those cushions on the bed… I want them 🙂

I’ve read a few flicker poems about kittens or cats and it”s so appropriate because that’s just what they seem today. A little sad today as a sweet neighbor cat went in for surgery, was full of cancer and they let him go this morning. The loss of a pet always puts a bit of a pall on my day.

They are incredibly cute … the first picture especially. They must be making you crazy! Four kittens at a time is a LOT of kitties.

No, I’m really loving having them. I don’t think I could give any of them up even if someone did want to adopt one. They are adorable..In that first photo, that was my camera strap he was pulling. That’s Ollie. I’m obnoxious, I know…
