It took an incredible amount of research for Bob to find the name of this flower, but by Jove, I think he did it. Plaudits to LWBUT’s Flower Identification Service!!!!

For Cee’s FOTD Challenge.

Here is a better shot of more of the plant… for Bob!

Bob, the leaves seem very different and this flower has fuller petals and little spurs on the end of the filaments. They also were more of a bushy or taller twiggy plant and it looks like gentians grow closer to the ground. I’m willing to be convinced, however. Thanks, as always, for your research.

Bob, I’ve added another shot of the flower to the original post. As you can see, it’ a good distance off the ground on more of a bush or tree-like plant. Could it be a fruit tree blossom? Very large dark leaves.

Bob, this one was farther off the ground in a bush-like plant. After this, I will take a closeup and then back off so you can see the size in relation to its environment. These closeups make it hard on you as you have no frame of reference re/ what the entire plant looks like. Makes for a pretty photo though! I hope you enjoy this because it is a lot of work and I certainly appreciate but don’t expect it.
