Fatal Wonder
Where’s that naughty kitty been?
Even though it’s nearly ten,
she’s not had a single nibble
of the tuna and the kibble
that I put outside the door
long ago—two hours or more.
If dead from curiosity,
she’s passed her illness onto me!

But the cat has 9 lives — and you have only one! Do protect your one life!

I’m SO glad both kitties are home and well. If only Kukla could tell you where he’s been!

Thanks, Susan. Short and to the point. That’s what a quadrille forces us to be.

It’s actually my boy cat that disappears for days at a time. They started out as 4 kittens invading my wall. Now after a few years we are down to two. Every time he doesn’t come back, I wonder. She seems the most adventurous but he is the disappearer.

So, it’s based on life. 🙂 That would make you wonder, so the kitty’s curiosity could be catching.

Ah, a cat’s curiosity is the worst especially with what they can bring home. Imagine having that curiosity spread lol.
I say that as a person with many cats, and this is too accurate. I worry about my (indoor) cats if they’re just acting the slightest bit off!

I had 5 at one time–four of them kittens. What a zoo but what fun.

Great title and I love the idea that curiosity is an illness that’s catching. Wonderful. Glad to have found your blog.

Curiosity is not really a bad thing. Necessary to writers, for sure.

A very cute poem… Our curiosity doesn’t stop in childhood. The cat always comes back you know!

I am sure it’s not for the cat you should worry, he is probably feasting on the poor robin who has ceased to sing.

I never read poetry thinking it is true or personal – but see from the comments this is – I really hope the kitten turns up!
This was moving even not assuming it was “true.”
