White Dahlia: FOTD, Aug 21, 2022

I’ve never seen a flower like this before. So beautiful in its unfolding. Is it a chrysanthemum? A large white marigold?  I’m waiting to be taught. It was very large, like a mum. Yay!! Within minutes, John Hric identified it as a dahlia. Thanks, John.

Sure looks like a chrysanthemum to me, That is the prime flower grown in the part of Louisiana where I am from, after azaleas etc.. They are grown commercially (for senior proms, weddings etc. as Boutonnieres and Corsage.) My mother grew them and they put paper-bags over them just as they start to open, that way they get bigger and always perfect. Some as large as about five inches across~! There are several shades and colors.
