The small dogs are still warm from their day’s exertion
curled into balls—one at my feet above the covers,
the other, too small or timid to leap up to the bed,
a tight knot in her cushy denim bed just a yard away.
For the dVerse Poets Quadrille prompt, the subject this week is warmth.

I’m so glad you kept Coco as a friend for Zoe! How is Morrie doing now, with the two of them?

Tonight I’m having Morrie sleep inside. I put down a rug for him near Zoe but instead he was lying on the tile touching her bed.. So sweet. He has since moved over to his fluffy rug. Coco is up on the bed. I’m trying to create situations for Morrie to join us.

Poor Morrie — in some of the photos he has seemed like the 3rd man out! Good for you for trying to include him!

Last time he spent the night with us, he jumped into bed and then Zoe did, too. Coco was already there. That was the night I had such trouble breathing that I decided I might be allergic. I still may be, but they are doing a good job of staying far enough away so I’m having no problem..Coco is in bed but the other two are in their beds beside my bed.

You’re giving these pups a good life as they warm your heart. She looks cozy in her little bed.

I recently told David that once Brody has left us, which is hopefully still a long way down the road, I would need a break from dogs for just a little while. He said he doesn’t think I could do it! I just think Brody is so special to me that it will be hard to fill his little paw prints! It would be nice to be able to leave the house and not have anyone to worry about also. Just for a short time.

I thought the same about Diego..Guess how long it took? One day!!! By a fluke. She hasn’t replaced him, but she needed a home and there was that empty bed…..

My next adoption is going to be an old dog that hasn’t been picked for a long time and just needs to come home to be loved in its final days.
