These little beauties just keep on blooming, but unfortunately the leaves don’t fare so well! love the seed pods, though.

Zinnias Curtailed: Cee’s Black and White Challenge: Flowers
Okay, Zinnias again, but this time in black and white! I think this last clump of zinnias look like they have been captured in moonlight.
I was going for an artificial effect here, and I think it works. They look waxy and stiff to my eye.

Here’s a closeup view of the wonderful flowers of the Silk Floss Tree. It is ceiba speciosa- such an interesting tree that I’m going to do another posting on it, showing its trunk and large seed pods as well.)

And, the tree itself.

Orange Thunbergia: Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge
Hard to believe that yes, this, too, is a thunbergia! I bought this plant years ago and had Pasiano plant it, but it was invisible–obscured by bougainvillea and ferns. I thought it had died out long ago, then yesterday I saw it rising up from the thick undergrowth and twining up this wire at the entrance to my house. Perfect!
Now, go HERE for Cee’s perfect detail of an iris and flowers by others!
Hibiscus Incline
The ramp to my studio is lined with a new crop of hibiscus peeking through the guard railings.

Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge 8/12/15
Today I just wanted to play with a detail of one rather wilted Thunbergia blossom that I snapped a picture of. I just wanted to use it in a painterly way to see how far the image could be stretched. I’m rather limited in my editing choices, but it was fun.
