I think my friend thought I was crazy as I pulled over to the side of the road to take photos of this tree. We were meeting her husband for lunch and he was probably waiting for us. But, I couldn’t neglect to honor this anciano. It is a coincidence that Becca just happens to have chosen a similar subject today. Good choice, Becca. You can see her contribution below.

There are so many huge old trees in the Raquet Club. I’ve been trying to catch a few before they radically trim them down.

My sister sent me this photo of the beautiful paloverde tree that stands near their property in Arizona. My mother lived for 30 years in Arizona after I left home and she always commented when the paloverde were in bloom.

Seasonal fires in the surrounding hills form a smoky background to these fussily-trimmed trees.


My Yucca tree is almost as high as the lower branches of my neighbor’s palm tree.

I planted this Royal Poinciana tree sixteen years ago. It now shades 1/3 of my front garden as well as a good bit of the street. These seed pods grow to a couple of feet in length.
