Under the Snow Moon, for RDP June 14, 2025

Under the Snow Moon

Moon of Snow, Moon of Sand.
Under a bleached white moon I stand.
Starless night, all alone.
Cold as ice. Cold as bone.

There you spin, far above.
Prompting wonder, prompting love.
Why is your light a different sort
Causing fierce creatures to cavort?

In the forest, eyes shine bright,
intent to tear, intent to bite,
but here at continent’s far rim,
with moon as bright, our passions dim.

Here the sand crabs burrow deep.
poem predators to stir their sleep.
Light of moon and light of sun
are the same. Their light is one.

Your light reflects some foreign day.
I look once more, then turn away.
I take its memory to keep,
turn out the lights and go to sleep.

For RDP the prompt is “predator.”

Plagiarist, For the Sunday Whirl, Apr 21, 2024

Plagiarist

I track my sleepy footprints down to the salty sea,
with only tide and sand to keep me company.

Now and then a wispy cloud silvers the rising moon,
breaking into filigree, then vanishing too soon.

A moonbeam cracks the tidal swell and draws a slender line,
whispering this story that now I claim as mine.

Huddling on the outskirts of wave and slivered light,
I nonetheless declare my self as part of this calm night.

Sly interloper that I am, still all I hear and see
opens up its arms and seems to welcome me.

For the Sunday Whirl the prompt words are: draw cracks sly sliver sleepy footprints stories moon outskirts wispy sky sea

routes laid out by heavenly bodies for dVerse Poets Quadrille Challenge, Nov 13, 2023

routes laid out by heavenly bodies

the moon
at its birth
and
the sun
at its death
create
just the
suggestion
of a
road
that is
why
I rise early
for the
sunrise
why I
ask you
to join me
for the
sunset
to howl howl
at the
open moon

This is a rewrite of a poem written 8 years ago transformed into a quadrille for the dVerse Poets Quadrille Challenge: Moon.  Go HERE to read other poems written for this prompt. I think I like the quadrille version better. Thanks, De at Whimsygizmo, for the incentive.

Moonshine over Casa Florencia

So glad I had my iPhone in my hand to capture this moonlit sky on my trip up to my house from my studio. Looking at the sky over the mountains to the north of the Raquet Club in San Juan Cosala.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Close Ups

DSC09994
I was going for a painterly effect in working with this photo of my dog, Diego.  This is a different shot from the one I did a Warhol technique with a few days ago.  The canvas effect is because the photo was taken through a screen door.  Wish I could paint this well, but alas, everything was accomplished via iPhoto!
