The Numbers Game #3, Jan 8, 2024

Today’s Post is pictures numbered 124. Click on photos to enlarge.

Welcome to “The Numbers Game #3.”  Today’s number is 124. To play along, go to your photos file and type that number into the search bar. Then post a selection of the photos you find under that number and include a link to your blog in my Numbers Game blog of the day. If instead of numbers, you have changed the identifiers of all your photos into words, pick a word or words to use instead, and show us a variety of photos that contain that word in the title.

This prompt will repeat each  Monday with a new number. If you want to play along, please put a link to your blog in comments below.

The Numbers Game #2: 123

Today’s Post is pictures numbered 123. Click on photos to enlarge.

Yesterday, I Initiated a new prompt called “The Numbers Game.”  For years I’ve been noticing that when I do a search according to the number of a photo I’m looking for either in my WordPress Media file or in my Photos file on my computer, that I come up with a varied bunch of photos with the same number. It finally occurred to me that it would be fun to publish them and to ask others to do the same.

Today’s number is 123. To play along, go to your photos file and type that number into the search bar. Then post all the photos you find and include a link to your blog in my Numbers Game blog of the day. For Bushboy and others of you who replace your number titles with words, I’m asking Brian to choose a word to use for the prompt and to include it in his comments, along with a link, below. If you do the same, use his prompt, not mine.

This is the second prompt this week, but after this, I’ll do it just one day a week on Monday. If you want to play along, please put a link to your blog in comments below.

Reader’s Choice

Reader’s Choice.  Do you have a question you’d like to ask me or is there a topic you’d like to suggest? If so, please let me know and I’ll pick one suggestion a week to write about. Sorta setting up my own little personal prompt site, but others are welcome to write a post from the prompts as well and to link  them as comments on my  week’s post whenever they wish. Let’s see if this works. What do you want to hear me blather on about or to write a poem or song about? Reader’s Choice!!!! Please note that I won’t be making up prompts myself. I will, however, be publishing all the comments and all of the suggestions and if anyone else wants to write on one of the topics and post a link to comments, that will be most welcome. See? I repeated that invitation twice!

Winner of “Cat in the Window” and new Cat Prompt

A cat in confinement (of her own choice, of course.)

Remember my “Cat in the Window” prompt? I pledged to have a drawing of all participants at the end of May and send a contribution equal to the number of participants to the charity of the winner’s choice.  This is April 30 and I just did the drawing  and sent this message off to Tammy at Tammy’s Reading Life

Hi Tammy. You, along with 31 other bloggers or Facebook friends, entered a photo for the “Cat in the Window” prompt on my blog. I had promised to have a drawing and to contribute an amount equal to the number of participants to the winner’s favorite charity. Congratulations, you are the winner!! if you tell me the name of your favorite charity, I will send them $31. It needs to be a charity I can pay via Paypal as I live in Mexico and a check would take 4 months to get there, if I could even find my checkbook. Thanks for playing along. Just today I published a post, “Cats in Confinement.” If you have a fun photo on this topic to post, just link it to my post in comments. Hope to hear from you soon. Judy

Thanks to everyone who sent or published photos of cats in windows.  Just today I published three pictures of cats in confinement. Want to play along? Post a photo of a cat in confinement and send a link to this site:

Cat in the Window Prompt

Here are a couple of my own “Cat in the Window” shots, as well as one by my friend Gloria. The story behind her shot is that I was visiting at her house and we were talking about “things” we loved.  She brought out this bronze cat and said it was something she’d thought she liked, but she’d never been able to find a place for.  I suggested she put it on the windowsill and she said she often put flowers there, but I said, no, I meant to put it on the outside sill between the window and the window grill. She just sent me this photo.  Perfect!

And, here is a recent little encounter acted out inside/outside my kitchen between my very reclusive older cat, Annie, who is still resentful of the four kittens I adopted two years ago. She is just now starting to allow a few overtures from Kukla, who with her brother Ollie is one of the two remaining “kittens” who are pretty much outside cats except for occasional nighttime visits inside, where Annie is pretty much the crabby occupant to their tentative visitor. (Click on the first photo below to enlarge and view all.)

It could be be beginning of a beautiful friendship, or Annie might just be coveting Kukla’s breakfast.

Now, please share your “Cat in the Window” photos. And don’t forget to tell us the story behind the photo! Publish them in your blog and put a link in comments below or if you don’t have a blog, just send me the photo via Facebook or email.
