Thunbergia: Flower of the Day, Jan 10, 2021

For Cee’s FOTD

Thunbergia, FOTD Dec. 1, 2020

This little Thunbergia vine is not growing out of the pot but rather into it from below. It has wandered all over my front and back gardens, then dies back and has to be untangled from the rest of the plants. It is fun to see where it is going to wander off to next. It somehow got from the front yard to the back without my help and with no clear pathway, as the house is in-between and paved with a stone terrace all the way around it.. One of nature’s grand mysteries. This fast-growing little plant is also called clockvine or black-eyed-susan.

Thunbergia Explorer: Flower of the Day, Aug 18, 2020

This little Thunbergia is invasive, but it is so pretty that I don’t mind. Here it is invading the garage.

Every Flower: NaPoWriMo 2020 Day 11

Every Flower

Who dares to press a flower to one meaning?
When one is in love, every flower is full of passion.
When love dies, each flower listens to your grief.

They pick up your thoughts  by some telepathy,
soak up meaning through the air,
are watered by your grief or joy.

Hope, regrets, solitude?
Flowers do not signify.
Flowers only serve as balm.

Any flower head in a baby’s fist, held out to her mother.
Hibiscus petals strewn across a reunion table,
rose petals on a marriage bed.

When I die, do not look for the me in the roses
blanketing my grave or the bougainvillea
fallen to the ground in which I lie.

Look for me in the blue thunbergia,
hearty and profuse and growing ever upward,
insisting on being seen. Me, here! Me.

TheNaPoWriMo prompt today is to write a poem about the meaning of flowers.

Thunbergia and Bougainvillea: FOTD Apr 4, 2019

The thunbergia seem to be advancing on the back yard. If the bougainvillea can’t defend themselves, then so be it.  I love the lushness and the contrast between the two.
