Canna Lilies
I actually found this photo while hunting for a fern picture. Guess this qualifies as both.

Fern: Color Your World
The landscapes were taken in Arizona when I was there for Xmas. The bird photos were all taken two weeks ago here in La Manzanilla. The ferns and the flower bud I took in my own yard this summer.

Nightmare
Bassoons are idly chuckling in the orchestra,
and in the aisle, popcorn crackles underfoot
as the last audience member hurries to find her seat.
I stand center stage
wondering what play this is
and how I came to be standing here.
The curtain opens.
I am naked.
And I have not even seen my lines!

The Prompt: Naked with Black Socks––Are you comfortable in front of people, or does the idea of public speaking make you want to hide in the bathroom? Why? *
No Rest for the Wicked
Now that the art walk is finished and I no longer have to maintain a pristine home, I’ve hauled out my art materials as well as the things I’ve collected from the beach and I’m planning a few dozen new pieces. This is the fun part, with the shells and wood and other elements laid out all over the kitchen and dining room and pushing and shoving into place. Not glued down or even fully planned, just getting the pieces assembled.

Color Your World Sandy
By the way, I got a broom and some plastic oars and some help and we did get this fellow back out to the water.

The Prompt: Your book is about to be recorded as an audiobook. If you could choose anyone to narrate it, who would it be?

She Reads Me!
When ever I go off to sleep
there is some company I keep.
No Teddy bear or other furry––
the thing I use to stave off worry
of that proverbial smoking gun–
the unkind deeds I might have done–
is a simple bedtime rite–
an audio book to stave off night.
Instead of wandering my mind,
mental ramblings of another kind
fill my thoughts before I slumber,
for fiction does less to encumber
my dreams with guilts of past misdeeds.
Entertainment rarely breeds
nightmares of a shocking sort.
The words of others just abort
somnambulant wanderings through the vast
savannas of my distant past.
So–short story long, if you’re the same––
using sleep to sort through blame
for all your guilty pleasures past,
and if you seek a way to cast
off all these worries of the night,
and choose my words to soothe your plight,
When I lay you down to sleep,
I hope I’m read by Meryl Streep.

Things That Sizzle
You’ll never convince me that those shoes aren’t hot!!! And, this little dog was so hot on the beach that he helped himself to some of the water from the plastic tub we wash our feet in to wash off beach sand. Ew!!!

Okay, to be fair I must reblog this. Tell me if you agree with me! And tell my colorblind friend as well.
serial monography: forgottenman's ruminations
Some of you know that my bff is Judy/Remi, therefore we must sometimes disagree. Tonight she responded to this prompt to post photos showing the color eggplant:
I suggested (well, strongly recommended) that she include the photo below in her post, but she declined (well, refused), because she says my t-shirt is maroon and oh-so-not eggplant. My eyes disagree. So, I put it to you, gentle observant occasional readers: does this photo show me wearing an eggplant-colored t-shirt (as I search for that damned buzzing fly)? Yea or nay?
