Royal Poinciana Trees: Sunday Trees and Cee’s Flower of the Day

Royal Poinciana Trees (Flamboyan or Flame Trees)

I posted closeups and flower clusters of this tree for the past two days and now here is the tree itself. I couldn’t decide which pic I liked the best so I chose a few.  I love this tree.  Messy but gorgeous. Last year the leaf cutter ants pretty much ate all the leaves and flowers  but this year it bloomed in all its glory.

Wow — that’s a spectacular tree! And how nicely it’s offset by the orange wall and the pink bougainvillea/roses (?) ! Thanks for sharing these 3 days of photos of it!

You are from India, right Hammad? I’ve heard from many other Indian bloggers that many of the same plants are found in India that are in my part of Mexico. Another favorite is the India shot plant that produces both gorgeous orange flowers and a round seed once used for shot when Indian soldiers ran out of shot. Reportedly, when they picked up seeds that had been used as shot, they still, when planted, produced flowers. Very hard, large, round black seeds.
