Resist!!!!!

Resist!!!!

This serpent that has tweeted and hissed
bursts forth like an erupting cyst,
uncoiling through the growing mist
of hydrocarbons, he checks his wrist.
Time for more treasures to be dissed––
air to pollute, cronies to enlist.
He combs his mind. He checks his list––
His whole agenda, an upraised fist.
Supporters, how could you have missed
the cold heart of this pugilist?
A savior or a hedonist?
It’s like the antichrist you’ve kissed.
How can you fail to get the gist
of all he’s recently dismissed:
the fact we need to coexist––
the clean air we need to exist––
the animals we must assist
with what is needed to subsist?
Health care and schools join the list.
Women’s rights? Staunch men insist
that ancient laws once more persist.
This truth just cannot be dismissed:
he is the largest terrorist.
He is a child, moody and pissed,
who gives our arm a mighty twist,
who must be chided to desist.
We must continue to resist.

The prompt word today is resist.

Excellent. (Unfortunately.) Indeed, for many of us, the word(/reality) “antichrist” rises quite naturally to the mind’s surface these days.

Judy, dear friend, thank you for putting into words the thoughts so many of us have been brooding over. You are so eloquent, I wanted you to inspire others, and with this piece, you will. I am going to share your words. Thank you for helping support the resistance.

Yes, totally agree. When “standardized test” results became more important than teaching kids how to learn and how to think and create, we have ended up with a generation of adults who don’t read, can do simple arithmetic, don’t understand grammar, spelling, or punctuation … and know nothing of history or how to separate fact from fiction.

What an excellent poem, Judy! When you wrote,’He combs his mind’, I thought you were going to say he combs his hair!! Not funny, Barbara, I know this man is a serious disaster. I read somewhere he’s suffering from narcissistic personality disorder and after reading about it, it makes a lot of sense. Stay strong, Judy. He’s certainly stirring up your writing! ❤

I certainly had both images in my mind.. but I imagine once he sprays it for the day there’s not much need to comb it again. Either the hair or the mind!!! His mind, of course, he fears disarranging as well as it is so well set!!!

Did you see the young girls from all over the U.S. singing the song they’d practiced on the internet before the march? It was so touching. Gave me hope that this generation will fight the good fight all over again. They may have to if women’s rights are set back as far as Trump wants them to be.
