About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Banana Bloom FOTD Aug 17, 2023

This was a surprise find in my garden the other day. I know what it is. Do you? I’ll tell after five guesses!!!! It is huge, by the way.  At least a foot long.  Actually, the second two people guessed correctly. It is a banana bloom! I’m going to have bananas this year!!!

Today we made earrings and bracelets. Each item unique. It is amazing how handy and creative they are. This is my last day of camp. They have one day more.

“Framed!” for Lens-Artists Challenge #162

Other than my art objects, (I know, that first one is cheating)I think my most frequent way to frame a shot is through trees or  with surrounding plants. The telephone wires overhead in the hummingbird shot give a contrast in frames to the plants below–like the two extremes. The bright orange swatch framed by beach litter is less contrived than the shots through plane and car and house windows. Zoe, about to be released from jail, says she didn’t do it. She was framed!!! This is my third go at trying to find photos for this prompt. The first two groups were erased before I could save them. This one I saved after every photo. Tedious, but I’m finally posting four hours later!! Don’t fail to see the photos in the link below. They are much more inspiring than mine:

Kids Art Camp, Aug 14, 2023

Click on photos to see larger views of these budding jewelry artists!  All total, 30 kids took part in my jewelry making group today, 8 at a time. Each person’s work was so unique that I just had to take a picture of each one with his or her bracelet. I put out the beads and cut the stringing material, and the kids worked with utter concentration. So much fun.  On Wednesday, we make earrings!!!! I love working with kids here. They are so creative and each one does entirely their own thing.

I’m a Fan of Lush Gardens

A few photos of my front garden and front garden wall For Jez’s I’m a Fan of prompt. I love my gardens a bit overgrown, as you might see from these photos. Every once in a while Paciano gets a wild hair and trims them all back and I mourn their loss.
