Poinciana Memories

For Cee’s FOTD

I found this poinciana flower from the tree in my front yard pressed between the pages of a notebook given to me by Judy Reeves. Thanks Judy. (I put the flower and scribbles there.)

Faded: FOTD March 1, 2019

The Morning After

The flowers should have been thrown away weeks ago but I couldn’t give up on them until the last bit of color faded away. So it was with the party.  The morning after, its souvenirs still remain.

More Fall Flowers: Flower of the Day, Oct. 22, 2017

Brown leaves caught in a tangle of drying flowers signal October as surely as pumpkins on porches and crisp autumn air.

For Cee’s Flower Prompt.

Everything Shall Fade Away

How cruel of life at end of day
that all of us should fade away,
one head going hoary white,
ready to give up the fight
while all around it, fresher shoots
sturdier and less hirsute
push upward in the dawning morn,
the meadow to freshly adorn.

The prompt word today was “Faded.”
