One Word Photo Challenge: Shamrock

What fun to look back a few years to look for photos to meet this challenge.  The first one of the bird in the water plants was taken on a trip to Peru several years ago.  This particular picture was taken on a pond near the Amazon.  The picture of the ant was also taken in the rainforest on that trip. The Mayan woman is a fountain that I commissioned and that spilled water into my pool.  Unfortunately a workman tipped it over and broke it a few years ago and the new one I paid for  and commissioned has never appeared.  Nor has the artist I paid to make it.  Sob. The gold colored building is my studio and that little cactus in front of it is now at least 30 feet high. The water lilies are on a pond in the Lake Chapala Society in Ajijic–the town I live near in Mexico, and the green moth flew on to my computer screen a year or so ago and actually had a poem dedicated to it.  It was very tiny and only a little bit less green than this picture depicts it to be.  Thanks for taking this journey through green with me! One Word Photo Challenge: Melon

Jennifer Wells’ photo challenge this week is to publish photos making use of the color of melon, depicted below:

The light-saturated red of the floor as well as tones in the bamboo echo the melon of the prompt. The scrim effect is created by a mosquito netted wall between the bedroom and studio area of the tree house I rented in La Manzanilla. I enjoyed my month of birdlike existence in a coconut grove that adjoined a bird sanctuary just blocks from the ocean.

When I saw the color for this challenge, I knew at once which pictures to search for. I’ll never forget those pastel melon and purple sunsets, which alternated with more vivid orange and yellow sunsets–never two the same.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

In my editing of both of these pelican photos, I was striving for a painterly quality.

Google ‘Villa Salvador” in Lima, Peru, for the fascinating story behind this picture. It was taken in their communal kitchen, used to feed those without jobs for a a limited period while they search for employment.

I posted two of these recently in the WordPress Weekly Challenge: Refraction, so I apologize to those of you  who have already seen them.  On the other hand, I’ve looked at the below picture of the jellyfish a hundred times and never get tired of seeing it; and they are so perfect for this challenge that I just have to use them again.
