Thalassic Theorem

Thalassic Theorem

Salty sea air and grainy sand
went great with sun and being tanned.
Their memory swirls within my head
as I prepare myself for bed.
But I do not wax nostalgic, for I find behind each knee,
in my pockets, luggage and the floor, the beach came home with me!

For the Weekend Writing Prompt: Thalassic (of the sea) write a poem or story of exactly 50 words making use of the word Thalassic.

Fin de Semana: NaPoWriMo 2022, #23

Fin de Semana

The streets are filled
with ice cream and cerveza
and the wildly patterned legs
of senoritas.
It is a day
of sunlight and red flowers
and fuchsia flowers and blue.

A slight wind
 strums the swaying branches
of the palms,
joins other village sounds
to compete with the passing hum
of  traffic streaming
from the city to our shores,

seeking the gentle lap of water against willow,
hypnotic bobbing of the pelicans
between the undulating liria––
a lazy day away
from urban life.

Peristeronic Poesy

Peristeronic Poesy

Forgive if I go histrionic
over things peristeronic.
I can’t control the things I do
when I hear them bill and coo.
Every day, my morning tonic
is when pigeons do their sonic
gurglings like water running.
while they do their daily sunning.
How I love these sunrise smidgens
of the morning sounds of  pigeons!!

For the Weekend Writing Prompt: Peristeronic.

Rainy Season Rag

Rainy Season Rag

How can you be so cavalier
with so much lightning flashing near?
Do you not see? Can you not hear?
It’s raining harder. Have you no fear?
The dogs both circle, growl and peer.
This vigilance is their career.
They’re prodding you to move your rear,
Forsake your hammock. Grab your beer
and make a run. The house is near.
Vámonos ahora, my dear!

For the Weekend Writing Prompt: Cavalier in 64 words.

Drought Year Fourth of July

Drought Year Fourth of July

Dakota natives were sure to know
the Aurora Borealis show.
Why set off fireworks as well
risking that dread fire truck’s bell
that signaled prairie fires to quell?

The Weekend Write Prompt is to write a 28 word poem making use of the word aurora.

Haven

Haven

I am so small, the world so big.
This corner built just right for hiding in.
Dark under the stairs and handy
for listening for danger’s footsteps
lest they come for me.

I have gotten so much done on “the” book today that I’m cheating and just doing this one tiny prompt. Just 32 words? Can’t hurt…

For Weekend Writing Prompt #126, we are to write on the subject of “Haven” using only 32 words.

Although  you sorta see through it,
you can’t see who they be through it.

might be better to ignore it.
