Zoe’s Revenge
When last we saw Zoe, she was sulking in her crate because I’d given her a flea bath. She finally supposedly forgave me and came in for a cuddle as I was about to put her out in her secure little outside area while I went to town for an appointment. “If I leave you in the house, will you go outside to pee and poo?” I asked her, and she gave me her best innocent-eyed nod of the head, but when I went into the hall, I saw that she’d already peed in the corner. As I mopped up the puddle with toilet paper and reached for the Clorox, she grabbed the wad of urine-soaked tissue and RAN! Fast. I chased her though the living room, dining room and kitchen and finally had to wedge her mouth open with my fingers to get possession of the tissue, but a small wad remained in her mouth. I forced her mouth open and got it only to have her seize the big wad again and make off again for the bedroom with it. I finally caught up with her halfway to her destination and luckily the phone/camera was nearby. Naughty Girl!!! I finally regained control of the whole stinky mess. I guess I’m not forgiven. I think she’ll go to her outside kennel now.

Misnomers
The prompt words I use each day are taken from five different blogs. To see the sites, click on each prompt word, which is linked to the blog that suggested it. Words for the day are: brindle, infatuated, obelus, summit. An obelus is a division sign, by the way. I didn’t know that, either, a fact that gave birth to the below poem:
Misnomers
An obelus should be a globe, a bubble or a ball.
rounded and continuous, uniting one and all,
not something that divides us and splits us into parts.
It’s clear the one who coined the word is lacking in their smarts.
Infatuated should mean thin and brindle should mean flinch.
Summit should mean more or less. I will not yield an inch.
Words should have meanings like their sounds lest ignorant souls abuse them.
Until they do, bet on the fact that I will never use them!!!

Infinite Variety
Lives just lived in lockstep are arid and lackluster.
More joy in collecting all the action we can muster,
But let me just say this of that. If you are a life-lover
life is better lived exposed and not lived under cover.
Incident by incident, our lives will thus accumulate,
but best to stop my blathering lest I over-expatiate.
Prompt words today are arid, lockstep , cover, expatiate, incident.

Zoe Videos: Her Big Climb, Baby Bee and Shoe Chew
Here are a few (?) Zoe videos for those of you not tired of viewing her adventures. They are pretty short so thought you might have the patience and interest to watch all three.

4:35 AM: Early Morning Blogging With Small Dog
The chaos of her day resolved, she sleeps upon my arm,
safe from the day’s challenges, safe from any harm.
No harried flights from tufts of grass, no tracked ants to regret,
sleeping snug in Mama’s bed’s as good as it can get.
As I spew out vernacular upon my soft-lit screen,
how could a small dog have any idea what they might mean?
Free from understanding what’s written by the keys,
she shifts her frame, for she can sleep wherever she may please.
She does not inquire how her comfort may curb mine.
Sleeping here on Mother’s arm feels to her just fine.
And since when she is fast asleep it seems that she’s not bossable,
I have to make typing with a small dog on my arm possible.
Forgottenman has asked for a few more shots of Zoe, so here she is in “her” bed and my sometimes office. Ollie has been occasionally visiting us here and I can feel her going down to join him. It was a surprise to see that this time it was Kukla who slept here with us. She has been avoiding Zoe, but in the middle of the night, when I felt Zoe going down and the cat shifting from its usual place between my legs and surrendering the coveted spot to Zoe, I thought it was Ollie. I snapped a photo holding the phone up in the air without being able to see the actual scene, and just now realize it was Kukla, who shifted to a spot on the other side of my leg. Zoe also sometimes grants visiting hours. Here she joins Diego at the barred window. We aren’t sure quite who is behind bars–the outside world or us. Click on photos to enlarge.
Words for the day are chaos, harried, vernacular, inquire and understanding.
