Naked Lady? Flower of the Day, June 21, 2016

I’m not sure what this lovely little flower is that volunteered its presence near my kitchen door.  If you know, please give me your verdict.

New Spanish Dancer: Flower of the Day, June 3, 2016

I can’t get enough of these Spanish Dancer Hibiscus.  There is a new one every few days on the bush I have to pass to get to my garage.

The above photo was taken two days ago.  Today, this is what it looks like:

Little Purple Bush Flower: Flower of the Day, May 27, 2016

Still Unidentified!!!

Here are some more shots of the little purple flower that I played around with yesterday.  I don’t think I gave any idea of how tiny it is, so I’m trying again today.  As you can see, it is smaller than a thumbnail and difficult to see against all the color of flashier flowers and foliage surrounding it. My research didn’t yield the name of this flowering bush, although at one point I saw two pictures of it on my screen that matched exactly.  I was so excited before I determined that I was looking at my own photos!  Back to the drawing board. Pentas Star Flower–Flower of the Day April 19,2016

I photographed these flowers at the lovely Chantli Mare Beach Hotel near La Manzanilla.  I used to grow them in California and I believe they are pentas star flowers.

Pseudobombax Ellipticum, or Shavingbrush Tree––Flower of the Day 2016, Apr 11

I saw this tree in full bloom as I was driving along the carretera and promptly pulled over to photograph it.  You’ll see more of it in the future.  It was impossible to get a bad shot of this tree!  Thanks, Judy Reeves, for identifying it for me.  What a poetic name.  I should have guessed its name!!!!

The Neighborhood–A Flower a Day, Mar 19, 2016

The most wonderful thing about bougainvilleas is often their surroundings.  They can obscure faults, serve as security and also as home to many creatures: possums, lizards, iguanas and my own cat.  Here are some beautiful places that bougainvilleas exist in La Manzanilla:

Bougainvillea Shadows: A Flower a Day, March 17, 2015

Carried away by its more flashy parts, sometimes we overlook the subtleties of nature.  I found these shadow shots of bougainvilleas to be as intriguing as the flowers themselves.

Morning Glory–Flower of the Day 3/7/16

In the tangle of this jungle garden, these morning glories shoved themselves to the foreground.
