Trapped
Mosquito netting above my head
and tucked securely around my bed.
What person forced to resort to it
hasn’t made a sport of it
at bedtime, just as they recline,
shut off the lights, and hear the whine
of a mosquito, far then near
directly buzzing in their ear!
Mosquito netting so fine and thin,
both keeps them out and keeps them in.
I knew if I tried hard enough that I could find my picture of the mosquito–netted bed in my treehouse! Finally found it in my Facebook photos.

Remember this image published a few weeks ago? I promised then to tell the rest of the story later, and here it is, below!
Does Anyone Know What This Bug Is?
It is about an inch long and runs very fast. I took 2 dozen pictures of it and this was the only one that wasn’t blurred! I’ve never seen one before. Looks like it should have wings, but it doesn’t. The answer? It is called a Cow Killer Ant or a Velvet Ant but it is actually a variety of wasp whose female is wingless. It is called a Cow killer Ant because of the saying that its sting is so painful that it could kill a cow!
This picture was captured as a result of a photo shoot for “Thursday Doors.” I was leaving a writer’s group meeting at a local hotel/restaurant when I saw a doorway with lovely flowers and birds surrounding the door, along with some other surprises I discovered when taking pictures of the details. At first, I didn’t realize that one of the details was merely an impromptu visitor. Luckily, he stood still as I snapped a few closeups. Reality is happier than fiction, for this grasshopper escaped the hummingbird’s beak, even though this picture might tell a different story!

In A Mexican Bano–WordPress Close Up Challenge
I’d never seen a golden dragon fly like this and I loved the accenting texture of the window sill, as well. Now I wish I’d gently transported him outside as he seemed intent on getting through the glass instead of flying out the open door of the gas station rest room.

I’ve been saving this picture for over a month, hoping it will fit into some prompt category, but since none have arisen, I’m issuing my own challenge. Send me a picture or publish on your blog or Facebook something that drives you buggy! much as I love seeing grasshoppers–especially this huge one that jumped out at me while i was trying to photograph something else–I believe Little Bird–I don’t like what they do to my plants and my dad had horrible stories of clouds of grasshoppers miles wide descending and eating everything in sight when he was a boy in South Dakota. Devastating to farmers. I’ve had so many hit my windshield that it became impossible to see to drive and also times when I skidded off the road when there were so many grasshoppers on the road that the highways becae slippery. So please publish a picture of what drives you buggy and tell the story. Don’t forget to establish a link to my blog so we can share our stories and pictures!

Just a slug
come undug,
this greenery thug
stuffed his mug,
then gave a tug
and ate the rug.
Climbed up a jug.
Ooops! No plug.
Glug-a-lug.
I was going for a painterly effect in working with this photo of my dog, Diego. This is a different shot from the one I did a Warhol technique with a few days ago. The canvas effect is because the photo was taken through a screen door. Wish I could paint this well, but alas, everything was accomplished via iPhoto!
