Thunbergia Visits Bougainvillea: Flower of the Day, May 22, 2018

IMG_0945 2

How these little black-eyed thunbergia made it from the front yard to this patch of bougainvillea in an island in the middle of my backyard, I’ll never know, but here they are visiting and making themselves at home.

You must see Cee’s beautiful purple clematis.

Shy Annes: Flower of the Day, Jan 6, 2018

If I were to name these flowers, I’d name them Shy Annes.  In reality, they are thunbergias.  Sweet little ladies. (Enlarge by clicking on any photo.)

Thunbergia: Flower of the Day, Sept 19, 2017.

I was late to the awards luncheon because I had to stop and take these photos of the wild tangle of tiny orange thunbergia winding around the bird of paradise plant. Please, Pasiano, don’t trim them away.  I love the jungle look. These ladies help to create it.

Thunbergia Grandiflower: Flower of the Day, Sept 3, 2017

Pushy and messy, these thunbergia vines are nonetheless my favorites. They rival kudzu in their push to cover the world.  I had to stop and click a fast photo of these vines on a neighbor’s wall.

Uninvited Visitor: Flower of the Day, Aug 15, 2017 (Thunbergia)

Glad this little lady decided to come uninvited.

Sky Blue––Thunbergia Grandiflora: Flower of the Day, May 21, 2017

Just try to convince me that this thunbergia isn’t sky blue! The first photo is of a thunbergia flower on the vine near my studio.  The second is a mistake shot I took of the sky seconds later.  I was amazed at how the colors matched!

Cee’s flowers today look like a child has been painting them! Look HERE.

Stuck in a Groove, Thunbergia : Flower of the Day, Dec 16, 2016

Cee gave me her approval to post one more posting of thunbergias.  Close-ups this time. Then I promise not to show any more for a very long time.

(Click on first photo to enlarge both.)

These are my two favorite shots ot the day, although I have others you might see in the far future!

They’re Here, They’re There, They’re Everywhere: Flower of the Day, Dec 14, 2016

As I explained yesterday, I planted one little thunbergia vine to the far right of this photo a few years ago.  Now where are they? (Click on first photo to enlarge and read captions.)

Somehow, they’ve jumped both the wall and the sidewalk and are twining around just about everything.  All of these fellows are on far left of the first photo, and on the other side of the sidewalk from the original location of the vine

As Cee goes obsessive regarding poinsettias, I’m using it as an excuse to obsess over thunbergia.
