Painterly Impressions: Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge 2016, Week 48

Here are two more of my “painterly” edits of photos. I wish I could paint this well. I believe the first is a detail, with some editing, cropping and deletions, of a night shot of the sky with an overhanging roofline.  The second is an edited detail of a blue heron in flight taken at Sea Ranch, California. Only the “Photos” editing software that came with my Mac was used.

Construction Cycle

(What’s going on here? Click on first photo to enlarge pics and read captions.)

Cycle

What comes before needed construction
is a good deal of destruction.
Thus at any given time,
there may seem no reason nor rhyme
to account for what is going on.
Yet, when all the rubble’s gone
and the building then commences—
houses, bridges, rooms or fences—
mass destruction seems no sin
when we tear down to build again.
Yet still, destruction never behooves us
unless what’s built tends to improve us.

The prompt word today was “Construct.

Hot and Cold

Hot as fire, cold as ice.
When the sun is hot, cold drinks are nice.

Thunbergia: Flower of the Day, Dec 2, 2016

I just love how these little beauties twist about, improving the scenery by covering up their warn-torn neighbors.

Version 2

Respite

Although it is the day lit world that shouts at me, it seems
that when darkness closes, you echo in my dreams.

The prompt word today was “echo.”

Cee’s Which Way Challenge, Nov 30, 2016

DSCF1150 - Version 2

This seeming bridge to nowhere is actually a loading dock for the tons of bird guano taken from this island every few years to use as fertilizer.

This is my submission for Cee’s Which Way Challenge.

Tradescantia Pallida (Purple Heart) Flower of the Day, Dec 1, 2016

My Purple Heart is sort of rangy and dry, but their lovely little flowers, seen up close, seem to be flourishing in spite of the unlush nature of the leaves and stems.
