Just 29 views away from my 775,000th View!!! Want to Help?

Unbelievably, We noticed a few days ago that I am approaching my 775,000th view. Little did I dream six years ago that it would lead to this..If you want to make it come true tonight, have a look!  Here are some blogs from the past:

This is my first post ever in March of 2013. It had five views: https://judydykstrabrown.com/2013/03/27/what-im-doing-here/

Here was one published a month later in April. It had eight views:

Annie

Annie

My wild girl
gone so tame,
when repeatedly
you bleat

Now, Now, Now.
What is it

you ask for?
Perhaps

this planned sleep
after 18

long years together?
There is

no way to meet
your demands

but one.
Good-bye
old friend.

Go to sleep.

Perhaps it was a blunder. He could be a stubborn mule.
A myriad of actions branded him a fool.
Scarce as they were, his virtues always managed to redeem him.
Some fools with little foresight even seemed to quite esteem him.
Still, a vulture is a vulture, and his dark side always won.
Self-serving minions always saved him when the day was done.
How do these soulless tyrants ever rise to power?
How long before he topples from his golden tower?

Cyber Tragedy

Cyber Tragedy

Much as they wished that she would wander, their child was otiose,
Glued to her computer, growing tissue adipose.
They wistfully imagined a life where they were free
to wander on their own in perpetuity.
In vain her parents waited, but their freedom never came.
They watched her eat and then begin one more computer game.
Her mother darned her hose and her father worked to feed her.
If she were a plant, there is no doubt that they would weed her.
They’d raised a human vegetable, capable of more.
If only they had earlier rushed her out the door!

Prompts today are hose, wander, wait, wistful and otiose.

Chocolate Cake–Musical Version

I have three different friends who have set my poems to music. Here’s another one recorded by Christine Anfossie, who also wrote the music. Thanks, Steve Raschke, for doing the remastering. I’ve published the poem before, but to listen to the musical version, click on the arrow below. If the arrow doesn’t work for you, click on the  link below it. The picture will vanish, but you’ll hear the song.. Weird.  For some reason some browsers won’t let you use the arrow.

Chocolate

You’re being good and I am not.
I broke my diet and got caught.
I’d have resisted if I could,
but chocolate cake just looked so good.

I bought a piece, not a whole cake.
I thought a meal of it I’d make.
But now you feel you must rebut
my obvious need for chocolate.

Will you soon go? It’s getting late,
and there’s this chocolate on my plate.
And though I know it’s impolite,
the chances that I’ll share are slight.

Of your smug lecture I’ve had enough
and now it’s my turn to be tough.
If you must fall from your high throne
and dine on cake, go buy your own!

Suspicious Coloring

If those of foreign ethnicity around our sacred nation
are being questioned over their passport identification,
are others far more grandiose being questioned, too?
Are those of nordic extraction locked up in a human zoo?
If chain migration must end now, will the extraction rope
extend around the family of our grand misanthrope?
Or is there exemption for folks of wide renown?
Are these rules only extended over people who are brown?

I can’t for the life of me remember what this plant is. I’d go out and look but it’s midnight and dark out there. I’ll gather more information tomorrow.

See Cee’s gorgeous dahlia HERE.
