Since I’d just had the house fumigated less than two weeks ago, I was distressed to walk into the bathroom and discover a scorpion on the floor! Please click on the photos below to see and read about the rest of the story.

Succulent Arrangements: FOTD Sept 13, 2021
Click on photos to enlarge. These charming little arrangements were placed on each of the tables in the waiting room/bar/lounge of the Bravo theater in Ajijic where we went to see a One-Woman presentation of “Shirley Valentine.” It was a wonderful show. The first time I’ve been
to any inside event in a year and a half.

Soul Mates
It took me 38 years to find my soul mate—the one I wanted to work with to make our relationship last, but it was worth the wait. Then, after his death, another eight years to find a true soulmate again. This time, although we’ll never be a couple in the conventional sense of the word, I’ve found someone exactly like the 50 percent of me no one else has ever matched so completely.
Sometimes we find parts of our soul in different people, so that somehow, in our relationships with all of them, we are completed! In these times of so many sad stories, how lucky we are to find these connections that allow us to grow new parts of our souls.

Wrong Decision: Sunday Whirl’s Wordle #518
Wrong Decision
Candlelight feigned the light of the day
and wheels crunched the gravel as he drove away.
I knelt down on the carpet and let my tears fall,
then rose to my feet and walked to the hall.
Too late for touching, I opened the door,
surprised at the flowers placed there on the floor.
Recriminations were all I expected,
but as I opened the card and inspected
the words that he’d written, they opened my heart
and I wished that I hadn’t let him depart.
Instead of surrendering to my misgiving
that he would be angry instead of forgiving,
that I’d opened the door and invited him in.
If I had, now I wonder what might have been?
I might have been living to this very day
with the love of my life that I sent away.
This week’s prompts for Wordle are: land, carpets, line, down, kneeling, tears, flowers, late,
wheels, touching, living and candlelight.

Datura: FOTD Sept 12, 2021
The edge of this field next to the lake was filled with this flower that looks like a datura to me. I will accept being corrected, however.

Peckish
Peckish
Just a slight off-center peck on each proffered cheek
is all urbane society ever seems to seek.
First at “Hello,” then “Goodbye,” it’s only a dry token
of all of the emotion that might be shown or spoken.
It’s as though a more demonstrative form of recognition,
some heartfelt hug or sincere words of fond admission,
some scrumptious soppy kiss on lips or action more revealing
might upset the applecart by showing our real feeling.
We love “love” in the movies or the pages of our books.
We desire seductive actions and long and smoldering looks—
kisses full of passion and genuine elation—
yet our own dry hand shakes are devoid of titillation.
I’m craving real emotion in place of mere air-kisses—
some lips that meet their mark, not just these weak near-misses.
It’s time for modern science to come up with a potion
that puts action in reaction and more motion in emotion!
Prompt words today are action, scrumptious, urbane, goodbye and recognition. Image by Limor Zellermayer on Unsplash.
Where?
Where?
Where are my glasses and my keys?
Can you help me find them, please?
They’re in my pocket, on my nose?
Okay. Then, do you suppose
you know where I have put my mask?
Embarrassing to have to ask,
but when I’m almost out the door,
I find that there is one thing more
to locate before I can leave,
and I really do believe
I can find it on my own.
I’ll just call my mobile phone
and listen to detect its ring.
I don’t need help with everything!
And yet, I do not hear its voice.
and so I must make a choice
to leave without it or to look
in every cranny, every nook.
I leave the house, secure in that
I’ve locked the doors and fed the cat,
My shoes both match. I’m fully dressed,
and so I think that it is best
that I make my toodle-oo
as soon as I have used the loo.
Then I must hurry out the door
ere I lose what I lost before.
Purse on shoulder and specs on nose,
keys in hand and clad in clothes,
I leave the house, smoothing my hair,
I’m off to……can you tell me where?
Some Truths about the Jellyfish
Some Truths about the Jellyfish
The fact is that the jellyfish
will never be a deli fish,
for when one tries to catch their goo
in nets, they’ll find it slips right through.
Their choreography includes
frequent oozing interludes,
the ramifications of this being
that the jellyfish you’re seeing
might be prone to disappear.
So for a moment he is here
and then he’s gone and over there
peering at you from his lair.
A kaleidoscope of colors that
sometimes look skinny, then look fat—
expanding to a great extent.
Shrinking and swelling is their bent
So if you seek a belly fish,
please rule out the jellyfish,
for though I know they look delicious,
they simply aren’t edible fishes.
Prompt words today are kaleidoscope, choreography, ramification and jellyfish. Photo by Maxime Bouffard downloaded from Unsplash.
