Thanks to “someone” (no name given) I know the name of this lanky little flowering bush that was hidden among the denser branches and leaves of my royal poinciana. It is a druante erecta or sky flower!

The thunbergia seem to be advancing on the back yard. If the bougainvillea can’t defend themselves, then so be it. I love the lushness and the contrast between the two.

Because everyone is going so crazy in California trying to view this year’s bumper crop of wildflowers and as a result causing traffic jams and ruining the fields by rolling in them while taking selfies, I decided to show you these photos I took of wildflowers near Tapalpa, Mexico, a few hours drive away from my house. They were taken in 2010 and 2011.
