Wild Orchids: Flower of the Day, Oct. 28, 2016

These wild orchids feel right at home in my royal poinciana tree. I forget they are there, tucked away in the branches and then suddenly one day look up and they are blooming. Like a gift of flowers from a mysterious benefactor.

Fall Colors: Flower of the Day, Oct. 25, 2016

I have no idea what this flower is. Its leaves are dark green and lush, the flowers, the size of a finger, shy and retiring by comparison. It grows beside my studio. I’m sure I planted it, but I can’t remember when.

“Boo”gainvillea: Flower of the Day, Oct 20, 2016

I’m passing this hand in the Dahlia challenge, so Cee wins. See her today’s play here.
Zinnia Twins: Flower of the Day, Oct. 18, 2016

Okay, this was just taken yesterday, so I know it isn’t a repeat as yesterday’s was. Sorry for that. Easy to lose track.
This one by Cee is really cool. Please have a look:

Goes with Pink: Dahlia, Flower of the Day, Oct. 17, 2016
Gypsy Dahlia: Flower of the Day, Oct. 16, 2016

I love that one ultra-shy petal that hasn’t opened at all and the other three, like observers in a vaudeville hall waiting for Gypsy Rose Lee to remove her veil!

Dahlia: Flower of the Day, Oct. 13, 2016

I went down to the studio to work, but instead got intrigued by the new flowers that have popped up during a time when I’ve been too busy to go down to enjoy them. Most of the dahlias and zinnias are past their prime, but this one was still gorgeous. I’ll do a macro of it tomorrow.
