I first saw the Mint Bar (Sheridan, Wyoming) fifty years ago when I came home with friends I met at the University of Wyoming, and it was an old bar then. Here’s the front door. If you want to come inside, I’ll show photos tomorrow. Curious???

Until I have time to write a poem, HERE is an earlier post on darkness.
Touchy Subjects
We cannot speak of family matters,
dare not speak of sex.
If we name things that we desire,
it’s sure to bring a hex.
Politics? Religion? They really are taboo.
In short, there’s hardly anything I can discuss with you.
Perhaps if we learned languages
that we could speak with hands—
expressions spoken by the deaf
or certain foreign lands,
we’d dare to speak of matters not uttered by the tongue,
and all these censored topics would no longer go unsung.
If we could say everything
that chanced across our mind––
subjects that are touchy,
volatile, unkind––
all those niggling topics formerly kept quiet?
I’ve no doubt the outcome would be chaos, warfare, riot!
The youngest member of our family (Maddie, 9 months) seems rapt over the words and motions of our eldest, (Jane, 90), or perhaps she is just admiring her beautiful manicure.
This gorgeous rose was on our table at the ice cream parlor where we met my niece Cindy’s cousin Kent who is directing a play at the Sheridan Drama Festival. Big coincidence as he is from NYC where the play his wife is in, “The Humans,” just won a Tony. Nice guy. Yummy ice cream–and this beautiful flower.

The minute and humble grass flower is often overlooked, yet how necessary it is for our world and when we look closely, how beautiful. You need to click to enlarge this one.
