Hibiscus? Flower of the Day, Dec 18, 2016
Doesn’t look much like a hibiscus to you? It is a macro of the center of the calyx after the flower has withered and fallen off. It was just so intriguing to me that I had to post it. It reminds me of something, but I can’t quite put my mind’s finger on what it is.

I found this perfect little succulent “flower” lying on the brick sidewalk
attached to one jade plant leaf.
This gives you a little better idea of the scale.
