“Santiago” for Last on the Card, February, 2026

Santiago (4 years old) came to my house to help his folks deliver an invitation for their church wedding. They had a civil marriage 4 or 5 years ago and have been saving up ever since for a church wedding and big reception. He was having lots of fun taking photos of my house. Notice the tongue!

And here is more of the story, added the next day:

Here are photos taken by budding photographer Santiago, sent to me this morning by his dad, along with a photo of him taken by his dad after they left my house : https://photos.app.goo.gl/zPH8FMpYFgL668sXA

And here is a photo I took of the happy family. Emilia is holding the beautiful invitation to their wedding.

Kids Art Camp, Aug 14, 2023

Click on photos to see larger views of these budding jewelry artists!  All total, 30 kids took part in my jewelry making group today, 8 at a time. Each person’s work was so unique that I just had to take a picture of each one with his or her bracelet. I put out the beads and cut the stringing material, and the kids worked with utter concentration. So much fun.  On Wednesday, we make earrings!!!! I love working with kids here. They are so creative and each one does entirely their own thing.

Art Camp, Last Day Aug 9, 2022

Jewelry day. Bracelets and earrings. I was so busy curling the ends of the wire
to hold the beads on the earrings that I didn’t have a chance to photograph many
of them. I did better with the bracelets. Thanks, Becky, for all your help!!!!

Kids’ Fashion

Kids’ Fashion

Ribbons and laces
and scrubbed shiny faces
are often conducive
to acts most abusive
by children who gad
in areas bad
that create messes
of fancy new dresses,
for puddles in paths
and gooey mud baths
wreak havoc, at best
on kids fancily dressed.

Prompts for today are children,  fancy, gad, ribbon and conducive.

A Tyke Named Stormy

A Tyke Named Stormy

He’s not your standard toddler. He’s a variant of the norm.
On rainy days he’d rather be out in the raging storm,
splashing through the mud puddles on his trusty trike
or trudging through small rivulets on a block-long hike.

When standard kids all huddle inside beside the fire,
he loves to face the bracing wind and plod through muddy mire.
I’d say he’s climate versatile. He’s game for any weather.
He likes to be out in the wild, free from any tether.

Most kids aren’t predictable, but this one surely is.
At dealing with bad weather, he surely is a whizz.
If any person can predict, I think for sure I can.
Some years hence, I think he’d make a perfect weatherman!

Prompt words today are versatile, standard, hike, hence and variant.

Black and White Halloween

Our Halloween was chill and wet.  Still, 11 Trick or Treaters braved the weather. I did another post of them in color but I kind of like these black and white photos as well. I know it is stretching it to enter them in Cee’s black and white Tongues and Tails challenge. Not all of these beasts have tales, but I guarantee they all have tongues.

The Death of Halloween

The Death of Halloween

What if we threw Halloween and nobody came?
If no one came to trick or treat, who might be to blame?
Perhaps they threw a party and we were not invited.
Perhaps the little kids are scared that they might be bited!
Are small girls scared of zombies, little boys spooked by ghosts?
Are all the big boys scared as well, in spite of all their boasts?
So in spite of Reese’s Cups, Hershey’s Bars and Snickers,
no  chocolate biters are in sight, no chewers and no lickers.
It seems that Halloween has died. Yearly hauntings are no more.
We might as well eat all the treats, give up and lock the door!!!

After an hour of waiting in vain for Trick or Treaters, just as I was trying to post this post, three groups of them showed up at our door.  Halloween has been rejuvinated.  Photos to follow. If you need a link to them, HERE they are.
