Doggie Drama

What are the chances that I would capture this action while I was exercising in the pool? But, I had noticed a large golden-orb weaver spider on my neighbor’s wall and although I knew it was too far away to get a good photo, I was listening to an Audible book and the phone was in reaching distance, so I thought I’d try. Coco and Zoe jogged over to check out my action and this is what resulted. Since i was holding the camera in my hands, I captured most of it, other than the recovery action which meant I had to set the camera down. Zoe Helps Mom Swim

Zoe’s never been outside when I’ve been swimming before, so she kept me company. And did a little gardening at the same time. While we were conversing, I held her for awhile and dipped her in the pool, which seemed not to bother her at all. I then held my hands under her and she swam a couple of strokes to the edge of the pool and pulled herself out. I helped a bit. She was too young before but soon I want to try her for a bit longer distance to be sure she knows how to get out of the pool in an emergency. I don’t leave her out in that area when I’m gone––only when I’m here within eyeshot and she’s with the older dogs. She now sometimes sleeps with them in “their” room as well.

Night Sky over Chapala, After Midnight, June 26, 2021

After a huge thunderstorm, the rain stopped and I went out to take an after-midnight swim. Luckily, I’d taken my iPhone out to listen to a book as I did my water exercises, and used it to try to capture a photo of a rare firefly that clung to the branch of an Areca palm hanging out over the water. I couldn’t capture it, but luckily it did make me notice an incredible moon and cloud tableau over my neighbor’s house that is pictured in the gallery below. This is the scene: mist surrounding and rising up into the night-chilled air from the hot water of my geothermally heated pool, clouds swirling around the moon. Click on the individual photos below to enlarge them.

Pool Party

Okay… It is finally happening, and the gang has collected to supervise. Our newly refurbished pool is finally ready for water and the water we put in has finally decided to stay put.  Hot water is coming in from the street, cooler water from a hose connected to the cistern and more hot water piped in from the hot tub. I’m excited because I haven’t been able to use the pool for over two weeks.  The kids are excited because finally their really big water bowl is going to be full enough for them to reach the water to quaff their thirsts! I keep telling them they have to be patient. I’ve done all the work of turning on pumps and hooking up hoses. Now all there is to do is to watch.

Can you match the photo above with the dialogue below?

“Pacing won’t help boys, but hey, if it relieves the tension, be my guest.”
“I remember when I could walk to the other side!”
“So are you ever going to fill our little dish again too, ma?”
“HEY..MA!  IS IT HERE YET?”
“You keep an eye on that one and I’ll supervise this one.”
“Then we can switch.”
“What I can’t figure out is how is the water getting from this one to that one?”
“Oh the water is wiiiiiiiiidddde, I cannot get o’er.”
” Morrie, are you supervising, having a drink or just admiring your new look?”
