A Garden Walk with my Mother on her Birthday: FOTD Nov 16, 2019

Two of my favorite people share today as a birthday. One is Forgottenman, who has, I hope, already received his photo tributes via Jibjab, but now I’m thinking about my Mother, who would have been 110 today if she had lived.

Recently I read a letter where she mentioned how when I was a baby I used to pick the heads off flowers and bring them to her. Misguided then, as I still am now in some matters, I have nonetheless learned to leave the flowers where they grow. I took a little walk in my garden today, Mother, imagining you were here with me, seeking out the flowers that are less profuse now than they were a few months ago.

Winter comes to Mexico as well, and although it cuts a less-wide swath, our cold snap seems to have inhibited the hibiscus and even the poinsettias, that should be fully in bloom by now. This is what you would have seen if you had been able to take my walk with me. If you click on the first photo, all of the photos will enlarge and you can go through them as a slide series and also read their captions:

Purple Passion

Purple Passion

Purple flowers––violets, maybe.
Purple eye makes purple baby.
Purple sweater, purple wall
and four o’clocks, the last of all!

Some of these photos and the ditty were published a few years ago.  I’ve upped the purple for this post, though. Hit this link and come play along!  For the Ragtag Prompt: Purple.

Purple Passion: Flower of the Day, Feb 25, 2018

I admit.  This is a made-up name.  I have no idea what flower this is. It was photographed in a streetside stall on Valentines Day in La Manzanilla, Mexico.  That’s all the clues I have to give.

“Bee”ing There, Wisteria: Cee’s Daily Flower Challenge

This gorgeous wisteria bush is outside Martin’s Restaurant where we hold our weekly writing group meetings.  I’ll show the entire bush/vine at a later date.

Flower of the Day, Apr 24, 2016

IMG_4861Another one I used to know the name of but no longer do.  If anyone does, I’ll add the name if you clue me in.  So little time.. so many unidentified plants!  I loved the sky as much as I did the flowers on this day…I may paint my house this color!

Do not miss seeing this flower as well.  It is stunning!!!  https://ceenphotography.com/2016/04/23/flower-of-the-day-april-24-2016-bearded-iris/

Morning Glory: Flower of the Day Dec 9, 2015

I think the morning glory is the hardest of all flowers to capture. Perhaps it is because it doesn’t have much dimension from it’s most interesting angle. I’ve photographed dozens, but this is the first one I’ve even considered using.
