R.I.P. my dear departed royal poinciana tree. The most beautiful of trees lakeside. I’ve planted a new one that is still very small. May it be as beautiful and as huge as this one grew to be.

My 21 year old Royal Poinciana tree succumbed to a fungus last year, and although I’ve planted a new one, it is a mere twig compared to this royal beauty. R.I.P.

I found this poinciana flower from the tree in my front yard pressed between the pages of a notebook given to me by Judy Reeves. Thanks Judy. (I put the flower and scribbles there.)

I can’t seem to get a photo that does this Royal Poinciana tree in the front yard of my house justice. The sun was too bright this morning. I’ll try again this afternoon.
It’s only negative feature is that it is messy when the petals begin to fall. Here they are, above and below. Click on photos to enlarge.
