Pink isn’t my favorite color, but I love this pink hibiscus I spotted in my friend Lety’s garden yesterday.
Aha!! Having posted my seventh photo yesterday, I am no longer bound by the rules, so today I’m going to publish a collage of the seven photos and tell you how they relate to my life. Hopefully the Gods of Photo Challenges will not take occasion to this act. Here goes:
(If you click on the first photo, you can see them in a larger form and read the explanations of why I chose them to reflect my life.)

Cyber Romance
Our affection is elastic, stretching from here to there.
My nightly kisses reach you through a thousand miles of air.
We have a date at 2 p.m., another at eleven
or twelve or one. It matters not. This freedom is just heaven.
No scrambling for a lipstick. No reaching for our combs.
No need to leave the comforts of our cozy homes.
No reservations must be made, no flowers to be bought.
No rashes to be suffered and no colds to be caught.
We are so safe here sheltered each in our favorite place
without expending energy meeting face-to-face.
It is a cyber romance—the newest thing to do.
And instead of having babies—one, perhaps, or two,
emojis I will give thee—as many as you please.
Life is so much simpler lived out via screens and keys.
The prompt today was elastic.

Seven days, seven black and white photos that reflect your life. No people, no explanations. Invite someone else to join each day. Today I invite anyone reading this blog to join, but please put a link to your photo in my comments so others may see your photo!!!

This is the same hibiscus I showed a night shot of two nights ago. Who needs diamonds or yachts when she can have a flower like this constantly blooming to enjoy every morning?
The Genius of Choice
I do not crave a sylphlike form.
Mere gorgeousness is not the norm
If I seek to build my ego up,
I do not need a 4D cup—
the back strain nor the stares and gawking.
The genius of a Stephen Hawking?
I do not want it, seek it not;
and I would not wish to be caught
inside a Porsche or Aston Martin.
Joy’s not packaged in a carton
large nor small. No jewels seek I.
No diamonds sparkle in my mind’s eye.
I do not envy your honor student.
Your sex life I just find imprudent.
I covet not thy ox nor ass,
thy husband nor thy backstage pass.
There’s just one thing I’m thirsting for.
If I had it, I’d need no more.
I guess I’ll tell the truth, y’all.
What do I want? I want it ALL!!!!
The prompt today was genius. (This is an edited version of a poem formerly published in 2014 under a different name.)

Everything Old is New Again
To dress passé? A fashion sin,
yet everything old is new again.
So if your dress length’s out of date,
all you have to do is wait.
In twenty years, you’ll be in vogue,
in what last year marked you a rogue.
Who dictates fashion is beyond me,
as are those who wait to see
whether ankle, thigh or knee
is where a garment’s end should be
and whether cowl or boat or vee
is the right neckline for a tee
they tuck into their faded jeans—
now ripped and shredded like dumpster queens.
Following fashion’s every word?
I fear I find it most absurd.
I want the knees left in my jeans,
my butt well-covered, by all means.
What clothes you wear should be your passion,
not merely what’s okayed by fashion.
There should be no laws or rules
regarding clothes or hats or jewels
except what shows us who you are.
Each woman her own runway star.
Living up to its title, this poem is a rewrite of an earlier post. The prompt today was fashionable.
