Found this lovely on my way back from the weekly outside market. I’m pretty sure it is a type of canna lily. I’m sure some kind botanical soul will set me straight on its identity if I am wrong.
Here‘s Cee’s luscious flower. I’m horribly allergic to them, but they are surely pretty.

In Mexico, Christmas is celebrated from December 12th to January 6th. That is why the gorgeous tree at the Nueva Posada hotel in Ajijic was still up when I went there to read poetry yesterday. So glad as I forgot my camera the last time I was there. This is the display beneath the tree. I’ll post the tree on Thursday.
Hibiscus? Flower of the Day, Dec 18, 2016
Doesn’t look much like a hibiscus to you? It is a macro of the center of the calyx after the flower has withered and fallen off. It was just so intriguing to me that I had to post it. It reminds me of something, but I can’t quite put my mind’s finger on what it is.

Somehow, they’ve jumped both the wall and the sidewalk and are twining around just about everything. All of these fellows are on far left of the first photo, and on the other side of the sidewalk from the original location of the vine
As Cee goes obsessive regarding poinsettias, I’m using it as an excuse to obsess over thunbergia.
