I love the combination of stone and plants. So once again I’m following Cee’s lead. To see her flower/rock combination, go HERE.

Faded Dahlia: Flower of the Day, Oct. 15, 2016
I had a number of shots I liked of dahlias in full bloom, but for some reason, this faded dahlia won out over them. There is something so 40’s about this photo—its limpness and faded chiffon colors.

Calendula officinalis (Pot Marigolds) Flower of the Day, Oct. 9, 2016

Mums or Marigolds? anglogermantranslations says they are marigolds. I couldn’t decide which they were, so labelled them as mums. What do you think? I’m always willing to alter a misconception. At any rate, when I think of October, I think of Homecoming corsages and that means mums, so in the spirit of autumn, I will dedicate this photo to chrysanthemums even if it is marigolds. After many votes either way, I received a comment from variegatus so scientific and thorough that I am changing the title of this post to Marigold. Definitely marigold. See that information below in the comments section, and if you want to view other flowers as well, see Cee’s and other flowers HERE.
Zeroing in: Flower of the Day, October 1, 2016
I don’t know what these rather innocuous-looking flowers are, but they got more interesting as I cropped closer and closer. I hadn’t even noticed the visitor taking a sip until my very last crop! You’ll need to click on the last photo to see him, probably.

Shrinking Violet (Pansy among Nasturtiums): Flower of the Day, Sept. 30, 2016

This little pansy, if not for its vivid violet color, would be lost among its giant neighbors in this nasturtium patch.
