This new hibiscus popped up and surprised me today. I almost forgot to take its picture, and by the time I did, it was twilight. I took several, hoping one would come out okay, but there were several I liked so sharing them all, even though the color isn’t quite right.

I’ve just raided the garden of my neighbors Brad and Dave (with their permission, and accompanied by their gardener) and filled in some spaces in these two little planters by my Studio. Those spaces, formerly occupied by interesting spiral seashells, were harvested by the dogs who removed them all and made an arrangement out of them on the lawn! Nope, not bones, boys, but it didn’t stop them from their larcenous ways.

Hard to believe that this is a bud from the same hibiscus plant that I published a photo of yesterday–that time a fully opened bloom. This is the picture of the bud I took yesterday.
Below is what this bud looks like today. Just a bit more unfurled and less yellow in the petals. perhaps because that yellow is just on the edges and now that it has unfurled a bit, less of it shows as it isn’t so tightly packed.
What a difference a day makes.
And below is yesterday’s hibiscus today. It is from the same plant as the bud above. Please click on first photo to enlarge all.
Once the petals are spread, they look nearly white. most of the color is on the back of the petals and only shows through when lit from behind. An intriguing flower.

This lovely and bushy zinnia decided to join my garden-in-progress in my adjoining lot. Who says uninvited aliens aren’t welcome???? Click to enlarge photos.

I love this new moss rose which grows in shades of hot pink and orange. I can see it from my desk so I enjoy its intense color all day long.

I found a new little vivero where the woman does such unusual plantings. The first one pictured is planted in an empty oyster tin. Wish I had purchased the one that still had the lid attached! The Anthurium was planted in a coconut shell which was then covered in grass so it formed a tight ball. I unfortunately left it in the trunk of my car while I met a friend for lunch, and so the leaves and flowers all dried out and shriveled up a bit. Hope it will grow new ones! The third was planted in a small coconut shell with little legs added on. I have a feeling I’ll be visiting this vivero again! If you happen to live in the Lake Chapala area, the name of the inventive lady is Lety and her vivero is located across the carretera from Super Lake.
