Negative Impact

Version 2

Negative Impact

When all the slimy little trolls
have popped their heads out of their holes
to converse with more humane souls,
they go about filling their roles,
moving their dirt like little moles.
Who knows their purposes or goals?
They do not build. Do not extoll.
Do not contribute to the whole.
Their words not clever, wry nor droll.
They simply seek to take their toll.
They represent the negative pole!!!

Word of the Day’s prompt today is “troll.”

Lashing Out

PA260084

If you’ve never before heard of the phrase “on fleek,” get in line behind me.  It was, however, the prompt word for the Ragtag Daily Prompt site today. In essence, it means perfectly done, exactly right; extremely good, attractive or stylish; sleek and perfectly groomed or styled. Examples: “Eyebrows on fleek.” , “Makeup on fleek”.

Lashing Out

When her lash she chose to tweak,
intent on its being on fleek,
alas she tugged a bit too much
and found that it escaped her clutch.
In vain did she survey and stoop.
The lash had landed in her soup.
And shortly after she sought to seat it,
she had the misfortune to eat it!

For the RDP prompt, “fleek.”

Declining the Crown

Declining the Crown

Surely, just the turrets alone must
take a goodly time to dust.
Not to mention dredging moats
and putting layers and layers of coats
of wax on armor lest it rusts.
And all those doorknobs? All those busts?
All in all, I think a castle
simply is not worth the hassle!

Fandango’s prompt for the day is “Castle.”

Hibiscus, Flower of the Day, Oct 13, 2018

IMG_2439I love the subtle blush of this not-yet-opened hibiscus..as well as the little window opened in the leaf by some hungry insect.

A Rancorous Opponent

A Rancorous Opponent

Though he excelled in decibels, his logic was found lacking
and in the end came off as a futile sort of quacking.
So when their tiff was over, all his ravings and his rantage
didn’t seem to grant him a discernible advantage.

The Daily Addictions prompt today is “advantage.”

Secure Advantage

Secure Advantage

To pacify that sense of damp
when you’re called upon to camp,
and after hours of climbing toil
you’re forced to sleep on soggy soil,
heartier souls won’t think to mock
if you perch upon a rock
and declare yourself the sentinel.
You’ll sense the danger and ring a bell.
And if by chance a rain just fell
a side advantage you might get
is you’ll be dry while they’re all wet!!!

The prompt words are mock, pacify and damp. Here are the links:

The Beard

I’ve always loved beards.  When my husband Bob shaved his off as a surprise after 12 years of marriage, I didn’t recognize him when he met me at the door. I thought it was a friend of ours. We went out to a party that night and I introduced him to our friends, who had also never seen him without a beard, as my brother. No one caught on all night long until we started close-dancing.  We got some strange looks before we finally admitted our little joke.  He grew the beard back!!!

Ill-fitted

Ill-fitted

He dragged his feet along the floor until
his brand new bride decided she’d her fill.
She pulled his shoes off of his feet and said,
“If I had known the truth when we were wed,
I might have had a very different goal—
to find a man who had a better sole
instead of feet so swollen and so red.
I might have had a cobbler’s son instead
if I’d paid less attention to your bod
and chosen me a groom much better shod!”

Thunbergia: Flower of the Day, Oct 11, 2018

I just found this photo taken shortly before I left Mexico ten days ago on my computer desk top. I can’t seem to keep this little creeper in its place. It has spread to pretty much every part of my property, even from front to back yard and now seems to want to take over the garage (not to mention my computer). I must admit I don’t do much to try to contain this unruly guest as I love its determination and the fact that I also love its little blooms contributes to my permissive attitude.
