Weekly Prompts Color Challenge: Blue

Some Thoughts Upon Viewing a Blue-Footed Booby

A chameleon can change his color by cue,
but what’s a blue-footed booby to do?
You can’t take off a foot like you’d take off a shoe.
And when blue is the only color you view
as you walk down the beach for a mile or two,
you might fancy a color a little bit new.
Yet, step after step, his feet remain blue!
It’s the color of ink and the color of goo—
a color that any mom would eschew
if she had a choice and a chance to imbue
her fledgling’s feet with a more subtle hue.
Instead, they’re this color that both of them rue.
Amazing to witness and lovely to view,
but admit it! You wouldn’t want blue feet, would you?

Footsies

It all started out innocently enough with my Skyping Forgottenman a photo of my feet along with a message that said, “Why do I like taking photos of feet so much?” He answered with “Yeah, me and a bunch of yer fam & friends have been talking about that. We’re planning a Zoom intervention.” I then sent him more feet photos and he sent me more feet photos I’d published here on my blog, and this is the result. How about it? Wanna show me your feet???

Past Squares, Oct 1, 2021

For Becky of Winchester’s Pastsquares Challenge we are to pick a square photo we’ve published in one of her past challenges. Above are two of mine. I couldn’t decide which to use and their colors, if not their subjects, match so well!

Lazy Feet

Lazy Feet

Crossing the room or traversing the plain,
one foot goes in front of the other again.
It is the business of shoe after shoe
to follow each other through sand, dirt or goo.

They have easy going through fields filled with clover,
but when they meet something they have to climb over,
their task is much harder. No reflecting or browsing,
for climbing up hills is ten times more rousing.

They  pump up the blood, these mountains and ramps.
They irritate arches and instigate cramps.
They cause blisters, pulled muscles, and wear a girl out.
That’s why I don’t often saunter about.

You won’t often find me walking out there
with the wind to my back and stirring my hair.
For although there’s less scenery, I do not care.
I prefer bed or hammock or chair.

Prompt words today are something, browse, revenge, traverse and business.

Aroma Therapy

Aroma Therapy

There’s a distinctive odor coming from your shoe.
I don’t know what is causing it. I’m sure it isn’t you.
An acquisitive vampire might pay big bucks for it
to augment the fetid odor in his burial pit.
When it comes to hygiene, I have very little tact,
so I have used hyperbole to illustrate the fact
that from the big toe of each foot right over to its pinky,
the fact is not debatable. Your feet are very stinky!

Prompt words today are odor, vampire, illustrate and acquisitive.

Still Life of Tree with Foot: Sunday Trees, Aug 5, 2018

IMG_3643 2

My friend Gloria Palazzo tends to look down when she walks, either to collect prizes for potential future collages or just out of curiosity.  She was going to crop her image of this “found” tree that is actually a palm fruiting bundle much flattened by cars and feet but still a bit three-dimensional, but I say the foot makes the photo.

HANDS, FEET PAWS: Cees black white photo challenge.

Since it rained almost every day we were in Cancun, we spent a lot of time under the canopy out by the pool–us under, the seagulls perched overhead!

This kitten wandered into a local coffee bar and persuaded its owners that it lived there. When they were gone and the front doors were closed, she continued to carry on an active social life with passing children.

Version 2

Fancy feet. I think you saw these earlier in vivid pink. Here they are letting their design carry the day in basic black and white.
