Jesus Lopez Vega’s New Mural, La Vieja Machis

After he finished the murals on my house, Jesus Lopez Vega went to paint a fabulous mural on the outside wall of my friends Candace and Bob’s house.  They had a sort of ribbon-cutting for it yesterday where Jesus explained the symbols of the mural and also talked about the book he has written on the history of the villages on the north side of lake Chapala. Hopefully, it will be published next year. Here are some of the photos of the mural and the people who came to its grand kickoff. You can click on the photos to enlarge them and read captions.

The mural is located at the corner of Zaragoza and Nino Heroes in Chapala. It is two blocks north of the Malecon and two blocks east of Francisco Madero, the street that the church is on.

After Two and a Half Months, Finally Finished!!!

After 2½ months, the murals that Jesus Lopez Vega and son Eduardo have been painting on the outside of my house and studio are finally finished. Forgottenman asked to see the total results, so I’m sharing them with you as well. If you are interested in seeing more of his work, look at the gallery of previous work I have bought from him below and also see his website at: arteajijic.net. (More contact info below.)

(Please note that there are two separate galleries.
In both you can Click on photos to enlarge and read captions.)

When Bob and I bought our house in 2001, the first thing we did was to go out and buy one of Jesus’ paintings in a local gallery. Here is that and other paintings I’ve bought from him over the years and other mural work he’s done in my house:

If you want to contact Jesus about custom projects or to view his gallery, here is contact information:

Jesus and Eduardo have been working here for about 2 1/2 months now and have worked wonders. They’ve finished with the house, but I took a few photos yesterday and today as they worked on the studio. What next???

The News

IMG_7460My friends Jesus and Jesus Eduardo who are spending their isolation time by helping to make my house more beautiful. Project still in process.

The News

I swore I would not write about our narcissistic president
or any other White House or Washington D. C. resident.
I’d avoid mention of the Dow and boycott themes ubiquitous,
stuffing down objections to tweets famously obliquitous.
I thought it was a piece of cake I’d slice off with a knife
to avoid this elephant that dominates my life,
but then the daily prompts came in and blew my plans away.
Could it be more obvious what they want me to say???
And so here is another diatribe against the present
truths that dominate our lives and make them less than pleasant.
To compensate I’d like to try to give an antidote,
so go down to the link below and share an anecdote
of something someone’s done that’s helped to make your life worth living.
Something non-self-serving that was heartfelt, loving, giving.
The world is not made up of only villains in the news.
News is only life and we can live it as we choose.

Go HERE and tell us about something wonderful someone has done for you or those around you in this time of forced isolation. And while you are there, see the good news others have shared.

Prompt words today are cake, boycott, knife, astray and president. See? They made me do it!!!!

Yes, we are keeping our distance. They are outside. I am inside. They live in the same house, so no problem with their being in close contact.

Passionflower: Flower of the Day, Dec 6, 2017

This passionflower is the major element of a mural by Lori Truly on the front of the Machima vegan restaurat in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico.  I’m not a vegan, but I go there because it is one of the best restaurants in town.

Here is the rest of the mural:

Jesus Lopez Vega’s Murals

Jesus just finished his murals on the outside of my friends’ house.  I took photos to send to them and decided to show you as well.  I think they are fabulous. He did most of the murals on the outside of my house as well. (Click on first photo to enlarge them all.)

Fortunate Photography: Odd Ball Challenge 2015 Week 45

Fortunate PhotographyIMG_7863

This picture was captured as a result of a photo shoot for “Thursday Doors.”  I was leaving a writer’s group meeting at a local hotel/restaurant when I saw a doorway with lovely flowers and birds surrounding the door, along with some other surprises I discovered when taking pictures of the details.  At first, I didn’t realize that one of the details was merely an impromptu visitor.  Luckily, he stood still as I snapped a few closeups.  Reality is happier than fiction, for this grasshopper escaped the hummingbird’s beak, even though this picture might tell a different story!

You’ll see the entire mural in next week’s Thursday Doors.
