“Acorn” for MVB, Sept 7, 2025

When I saw this prompt, I just had to reblog this blog of mine from 2018. It was too perfect.

Mystery Solved

My friend Larry Kolczak has allowed me to copy this hilarious email sent to me.  I’ve been trying to convince him he should have a blog himself. Do you agree?

Funnies from Real Life for Sunday Stills

This guy was for real.  He wandered the beach with this squirrel couple on his head and shoulder. They later had a baby who traveled with them as well. Gotta run now but later I’ll try to find a photo of the entire happy family.

Nature’s Alarm Clock: Morning Matins

Morning Matins

Birds of diverse attitudes
join voice to sing beatitudes.
The stodgiest cannot refrain
from joining every day again—
unrepentant in their choices,
upon awakening, to join voices.
This reunion stirs the world.

Squirrels in their burrows tightly curled,
unwind to greet the light of day

as inch by inch it lifts its ray.
The donkey lifts its voice to bray
and chickens, as they strain to lay,
raise their clucks to join the chorus,
the world’s alarm clock sounding for us.

The whole world wakening, bit by bit,
prompting us all to wake with it.

Prompts today are: stodgy, beatitude, inch and reunion. And yes, I know that’s a rooster, not a chicken, but although they didn’t make the poem, roosters are the best alarm of all.

Squirreled Splendor

Squirreled Splendor

Why this crazy diadem so intimately curled?
How quizzical you’ve seen it fit to be completely squirreled.
If I decide to follow suit to don a furry coif,
will you claim a copyright and make me take it off?

Prompt words today are decidediadem,  copyright, quizzical,

A girl can get accustomed to anything in time, even a family of squirrels moving into her new hairdo.  Mama, papa and baby.  Now abuela, as well.

Squirreled Away: Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, the Letter Q

I’ve been saving these photos taken in Sheridan, Wyoming in October for the correct occasion.  Looks like this is it.  The challenge is photos of anything containing the letter “Q.”  Soooooo. (Click on first photo to enlarge all. If you are viewing on Facebook, click on URL first or you won’t see all the photos.)
