January 1, 2018 dawned sunny and warm. This hibiscus opened to a new year. Happy New Year to all.

The last day of the year, last flower of the year. This is my very favorite color of bougainvillea. Pasiano had just watered and by chance I caught it at the right moment.
The scientific name of this tree, native to southern Mexico, is as surreal as the bloom. it is pseudobombax ellipticium! More commonly known as the shaving brush tree.

This gorgeous anthurium was a gift from cross-the-street neighbors Brad and Dave. Such a unique color. I love it.
A solitary hibiscus popped itself open and presented itself like a Christmas gift when I got back from an afternoon holiday dinner today. Merry Christmas to all!
Since these flowers are made out of corn husks, they almost qualify as “real,” right?
