Zoe Helps Mom Swim

Zoe’s never been outside when I’ve been swimming before, so she kept me company. And did a little gardening at the same time. While we were conversing, I held her for awhile and dipped her in the pool, which seemed not to bother her at all. I then held my hands under her and she swam a couple of strokes to the edge of the pool and pulled herself out. I helped a bit. She was too young before but soon I want to try her for a bit longer distance to be sure she knows how to get out of the pool in an emergency. I don’t leave her out in that area when I’m gone––only when I’m here within eyeshot and she’s with the older dogs. She now sometimes sleeps with them in “their” room as well.

Holy Tearer (For Forgottenman, who requested another Zoe post)

You won’t recognize the object of the tug-of-war between Zoe and me in the first photo, but it is my shirt sleeve. You might, however, recognize the pillow made out of my childhood drapes material that a friend recently gave to me, minus the big chewed hole recently added. Guess how that got there? Zoe has turned into a holy tearer for sure. I guess it is the terrible twos!!!!

If you don’t remember the story of how I came to be gifted the swatch of material that is the exact copy of the drapes in the house I grew up in, click on this link:

Doggie Downers and Puppy Uppers

I was talking to Forgottenman about Zoe’s latest antics which I won’t bore you with, but he referred me to this old Saturday Night Live sketch. Ha!

Housekeeping (Zoe Chronicle # 10)

Zoe positively loves her Levis bed that is beside my desk. And, she loves her toys all around her. If I take one of the toys out and toss it onto the floor, she immediately jumps out of bed and gets it and puts it back in the bed. We could repeat this for five minutes, and every time she would immediately replace it. Best roomie I’ve ever had in that respect.

Wars and Dogs and Teddy Bears

Wars and Dogs and Teddy Bears

Cynophilists and andarctophiles are experts at collecting,
perhaps because they’ve flunked at other methods of connecting.
Wars are staged by countries that believe in hoarding arms.
Ironic that the means for hugs also maims and harms.

My recommendation is that those who make the rules
should be those sent to battle. Arm the presidents and fools
who start the wars—the despots and the senators and kings.
Then let them see what personal riches battle brings.

Let them take the chances fighting wars waged in their name,
so they are the ones slaughtered or made maimed or blind or lame.
The things that one collects should be what they are about
and what we put into the world be all that we take out.

Prompt words today are war, lame, arctophile, chance and recommendation.

Andarctophile, in cast you didn’t already know, is someone who loves or collects teddy bears. The term for those who love dogs is “Cynophilist”. And the love for a dog is called “Canophilia”.

Morrie’s Old Look

Lots of excitement on all fronts today, including Morrie’s day at the spa. This is his new look. Cool, huh?

Zoe Report V

Please note that there are three videos. Once you see the first, come back to this page to see the other two.

Zoe in combat with a palm leaf in her new domain. It is accessible from the house, but has gates at two ends, a wall on one side and the house on the other. I put a little house in it with a fluffy rug and put sod and grass in the planter between the palms and pots. It is “her” place. The cats come to visit, but she is boss even though they are five times her size. The dogs come visit by sticking their noses through the vertical bars in the gate. It’s like she is holding court. In this video, however, she is pursuing her favorite activity: declaring war on plants.

Zoe Report IV

Zoe has now appropriated my favorite sweater in addition to my favorite nightgown. Soon I’ll need to go on a shopping spree.

Trip to La Mosca Restaurante–With a Bonus

Yes that’s right. We took a special trip up the coast to visit an oceanside restaurant named “La Mosca” or “The Fly.” My friends went for the fresh fish, I went for the views but ended up coming home with a bonus..a tiny puppy that we named “Zoe” who will be coming home to San Juan Cosala with me tomorrow. She’s already had a number of adventures, as have we, being her companions. You will no doubt see more of her in the future. Luckily, there were more birds than flies at La Mosca.

Here is one video of Zoe at play. I’ll add another later. The best one I took, I forgot to turn the video recorder on!!! Of course.
